Dinner and Tea They are called dinner ladies not lunch ladies So didn't you have mess dinners in the evenings in the 2nd service ?

Don't people usually go out for a 'dinner date' in the evenings? 🤔 I never use the word 'lunch' personally, probably because I eat when I'm hungry not when time dictates. Dinner is also sometimes confused with supper as far as I can make out. 'Evening Meal' is the best descriptor, less confusion 🙂 what about the munchies? That's normally four O'clockers

I've brung my son up wrong. He's just texted to say he is coming home " after lunch but before dinner " I am ashamed. In fairness he was born in Nottingham and has never lived in Stoke-on-Trent Disown and disinherit him, he has brought it on himself.

Dinner and Tea They are called dinner ladies not lunch ladies I must stress that I don't agree with it but Dinner ladies are no longer named that, I believe they are now called Lunchtime Supervisors. Ask anyone around here what dinnertime and teatime are though and I'd hate to think they'd get it wrong

Breakfast. Dinner. Tea. Supper.
If you can afford it and go out in the evening then you go for a 'meal'. In the army, all meals are called 'scram'.

Ask anyone around here what dinnertime and teatime are though and I'd hate to think they'd get it wrong Dinner Ladies (now referred to as Lunchtime Supervisors) aren’t what the used to be. I was petrified of the ones at Ellison Street Juniors when I was a nipper. Would (actually) wash your mouth with soap for swearing , blasphemy or any cheekiness. They don’t make them like that any more. More’s the pity.

The occasional brunch at weekends and snacks for anything after dinner in the evening.
The rest aren't needed.

Posh - Port Out Starboard Home (so you don't crash) D'you remember the term 'Piso'? Used to insult someone rather careful with their money, as in "he's a piso twat". I often wonder about the etymology of words and have thought about piso occasionally, could it have been the reverse of POSH? As in Port In Starboard Out 🙂

Lunch and dinner is the right terminology. You wouldn't have a sausage bap for dinner but you would for lunch.

At last -some properly researched common sense. What’s wrong with a sausage bap for dinner? Would you put gravy on it? What wine would you have with it? Obviously not a dinner - by which I mean supper.

What’s wrong with a sausage bap for dinner? Would you put gravy on it? What wine would you have with it? Obviously not a dinner - by which I mean supper. Depends on the type of sausage. I’d normally go for good quality standard Pork sausage with perhaps mustard on it. With the above in mind I’d choose Malbec as the accompanying wine of choice followed by 8 cans of special brew.

In the Neckend (Which is the only place that matters) it's breakfast - dinner - tea... And your sausage goes with some cheese on an oatcake.
