Forest have issued a statement that the local authority Safety Advisory Group are threatening to close parts of the ground due to the persistant standing problem and Forest are to ban offenders and take away their season cards if stewards are ignored. About time too! Forest are about to introduce safe standing when the stadium is updated by 2027.

It is very easy to identify offenders via cctv and seat numbers and at Forest a lot of fans are mouthing off on social meddia that they don't care, and the club won't do anything could be in for a shock when they get kicked out. Could it happen at Stoke I wonder, and do the council have a similar safety group as in Nottingham?

The way we are going it won't matter anyway as there will be so many empty seats next season.

If any club can afford to ban a few thousand of their own supporters then good luck to them.

If they enforced this here the whole stadium would be on their feet

If the ground is seated then you should sit down , i know when a goal is scored everyone jumps up, and that is acceptable. We always seem to stand at away games . I took the other half to Palace a few years back, everyone was standing in the Stoke section , she did not see a thing. You have to show consideration for everyone.

Way we're going, there needs to be a persistent sitting sleeping warning.

Every club stands at away games, clubs advise fans to get tickets at the front of the stand if you wish to sit because you are never going to stop it. It also creates a much better atmosphere, that you cannot deny.

Its one of the reasons I moved from the south stand to the top tier. Im to old to have to jump up every time the ball comes near the goal.........

And I didn't even have sweets on me nor did my mate, we went to every game, but argue all I wanted with the stewards they were insistent it was on CCTV. I even asked them to search me .. They didn't, but continued to threaten to throw me out if I continued. I think it was a shit game when we were losing too back in the TP days when we finished mid table after threatening a playoff push. Nice 14000 crowd so plenty of seats. Stewards, much like our recruitment team, couldn't tell their arse from their elbow either.

First came across it in Cape Town in early 70's - Blacks caged in at one end, everyone else free to sit/stand where they wanted. I enjoyed the days, when just the same as selecting a theatre ticket you could get the best view individuals wanted. I found it quite a novelty to go up on an escalator in Goodison Parks new stand to my seat in the early 70's. Or going into the main stand at Highbury past the bust of Herbert Chapman. Then sat adjacent to the press box being asked by journos who were the two young lads terrorising the Arsenal defence (Heath & Chapman), as Lee Chapmans goal gave us a 1-0 win on the first day of the season. I have other examples but these two come to mind when I enjoyed being able to choose where to sit.

If any club can afford to ban a few thousand of their own supporters then good luck to them. I'd go for a lucky dip ban myself. Every week randomly pick out 20 fans who were standing all match last game and ban them for 1 match. Might make some people think twice if they knew there's a chance they'd get banned for a game.

They could then resell the seat anyway, And if the purchaser sat down then that’s fine for those sitting behind? Seriously I think if such a system was introduced the season card would be blocked Safe standing should be an option, enough available for those who always want to stand and everyone gets to see the game
