If Messi got in touch with JC and said I want be player manager of Stoke City,JC would tell him no because his English wasn't very good.
It's a good job JC only has one nose,if he had 2 ,he would pick the fucking wrong one.

Id be selling the club at the earliest opportunity and gracefully making way for new owners to come in with a new set of ideas. It has to happen.

Every club in the world are trying to sign the best manager they can find. It is anything but an exact science. How many managers did Man Utd. go through before getting Ferguson to win the League for them. How many more will they go through before winning it again and they have almost unlimited funds and the option of any manager in the world. Similarly it took Liverpool, Brighton and Forest decades to get the right manager. It is very easy to list the ingredients necessary for a successful club. Assembling the actual people is fiendishly difficult. There are no guarantees that someone who worked out perfectly in one environment will suit a different one. The people you select must all mesh and be able to work with each other. All I see on here are people with simple solutions to very complex problems. This is not to excuse the disastrous decisions that have brought us to our present calamitous position. It is unforgivable that we are where we are, and those responsible should be ashamed of themselves. Failing to be ultra successful is one thing, but failing totally to build a functional side that can attack and defend to a reasonable standard in a very poor Championship is a completely different thing. Especially given the resources available to them. I'll bet the board wish it was as simple as compelling an outcome with money💰

Buy the Vale, officially rename them Port Fail, sell the squad and replace them with eleven 90 year olds, and wipe my widge on every pie before sale (before heating, obviously).

Accept the inevitable and face the fact that we are in League 1 next season. Clear out the squad, sack the entire Board. Hire a DOF and give him a clean slate. The only contact John has with the club is his accountant and the DOF. Keep - Bonham - Junho - Thompson - Junior - Gooch. The rest are gone as their agents will demand a move. We have seen how physically weak we are. League One will be even more physical. Tired of seeing other teams with no name players kick our ass. We need no name players with heart and desire and build from there. We are Sunderland apparently. Jones built a whole squad of no-name players and they were absolute crap

If you were John Coates...
I wouldn't be getting big Sam in or Tony Pulis (let's be honest it isn't going to happen even if he wanted it to)
I would be praying we somehow turn it around because I don't think there are any other options left.

What should he do?
Well he has to accept for whatever reason we are where we are..fact! We have I think 12 games left to avoid relegation. Does he think the manager can keep us up? We have lost what 7 in 8? Are there any signs he can ? We have got significantly worse?
The only conclusion is he can’t save us from what’s on view? So the only course is to act now? If it fails it fails but the reality is it is last chance saloon?
I’d try for JDT.

He needs to first find someone who he can REALLY trust to help him pick a way forward, ideally a footballing man who loves the club.

Can we get Chat GPT to run the club. "How can Stoke City FC become a success and return to the premier league?" Chat GPT says: Stoke City FC's return to the Premier League and achieving long-term success involves a multifaceted strategy that encompasses on-field performance, financial health, infrastructure, and community engagement. Here are several key areas the club could focus on: 1. Strategic Planning and ManagementLong-Term Vision: Develop a clear, long-term strategy that includes objectives for promotion, sustainability in the Premier League, and financial stability. Effective Leadership: Ensure strong leadership from the boardroom to the management team, with everyone aligned on the club's goals and strategies. 2. Financial ManagementSustainable Spending: Operate within a sustainable financial model, balancing investment in the squad with the club's revenue streams to avoid falling foul of financial fair play regulations. Revenue Generation: Increase revenue through commercial deals, matchday income, and player sales. Investing in marketing and global branding can also help in this regard. 3. Squad Building and DevelopmentTalent Identification and Recruitment: Invest in a robust scouting network to identify and recruit players who offer value for money and have the potential to perform at a Premier League level. Youth Development: Strengthen the academy to develop homegrown talent, reducing the need for expensive transfers and creating a pathway to the first team for young players. Team Cohesion: Focus on building a balanced and cohesive squad, with a mix of experienced leaders and young talents, all committed to the club's vision. 4. Coaching and PerformanceHigh-Quality Coaching: Ensure the coaching staff is capable of developing players, implementing modern tactics, and adapting to the challenges of both the Championship and the Premier League. Performance Analysis: Utilize data analytics and performance analysis to gain competitive advantages in training, player development, and match strategy. 5. Infrastructure and FacilitiesStadium and Training Facilities: Invest in high-quality training facilities and stadium improvements to attract better players and enhance the matchday experience for fans. Medical and Sports Science: Emphasize injury prevention, player fitness, and recovery through state-of-the-art sports science and medical facilities. 6. Fan Engagement and Community InvolvementFan Experience: Improve the overall fan experience to boost attendance and create a formidable home advantage. Community Programs: Engage with the local community through outreach programs, supporting local initiatives, and making the club a pillar of the community. 7. Adaptability and ResilienceFlexibility: Be prepared to adapt strategies as circumstances change, whether due to financial pressures, changes in competition, or other external factors. Resilience: Build a club culture that is resilient in the face of setbacks, with a focus on long-term goals rather than short-term fixes. Achieving success and securing a return to the Premier League will require patience, smart decision-making, and consistent effort across all levels of the club. It's about building a strong foundation that not only aims for promotion but also ensures the club is competitive and financially viable in the long term. Go all out for this GPT bloke

I would try to get MON in as Director of Football to run things and keep my nose out of the day to day running of the club other than supply funds. I would let the new Director of Football decide if he wants to keep Schumacher or if he thinks they can create something special together.
We need to create partnerships off the field first then it will be easier to create them on it. We need a new permanent Director of Football yesterday to start doing the ground work ready for the summer. If he needs to assemble a new team as well as sort out recruiting players it's just going to be a mad rush to sort things out in the summer full of more mistakes. I would want a new permanent Director of Football now and to have time to put a team together ready to help the coach/manager do theirs.
If there needs to be an overhaul upstairs we will be in one hell of a mess in the summer if we haven't had time to sort it out.

In the short term he only has 2 options, stick or twist. Am not sure that exercising either is going to avoid the drop given the weaknesses in the squad. Once the season is over he has to admit that he has failed and stand down to allow a proper structure to be put in place. It won't happen of course but it needs to.

I'd ask Denise to help me out for six months on the business side (or one of her top men) I'd ask Tony Pulis to come on a 12 month contract to oversea character of new signing assessments.. I'd appoint JDT as Head Coach. I'd appoint Ryan as his assistant if JDT was agreeable. I'd keep SJW as chief scout and a vehicle to tie the lot together. I'd tell the catering department to serve hot gravy and peas with the pies. I'd tell the catering department to increase the Pedigree temperature a couple of degrees. I'd run a properly organised shuttle bus from trentham gardens. Go for it JC. I know Denise is not into football but the loan of one of her top team would be beneficial to the club. They know success and they know their abacus. Cannot do any harm.

I am sure he really isn't allowing it to happen , sure he would rather be where Leicester are tbf A year on year decline going on for almost a decade doesn’t happen by chance. So why have we changed managers and staff , if we are allowing it to happen then stay with Rowett and save having to fork out compo ??

He already has his Dad and Denis to advise him - you won’t get a lot more footballing knowledge than those two. Perhaps talk to someone a little younger he can trust like SAF or TP. At the end of the day, he needs to ignore the noise coming from places like this message board and be his own man. After all, that’s what his Dad did when TP came back.
I fear the problem is that we are just too nice and the club is too comfortable for its employees. I always found a little bit of trepidation (not too much) helps with motivation.

Add a shrewd businessman/ woman to the board? and without wishing to sound disrespectful to the gents on here, we women are very good at spotting chancers and Bullsh!tters in business generally and that's where we keep falling down at the Club. Plus, we don't stand for cr@p! I fully expect a tirade of sexist babble after this post BUT I bet we wouldn't keep making these same naive mistakes if their was a Tough Businesswoman in the Boardroom.

I'd step back, ask the supporters to form a trust for taking ownership of the club, and forgive all debt. Then when the trust had taken over, I'd pledge up to £50M/yr to cover costs.
What I realistically want him to do is to step back, appoint MON as DoF with full power over all sporting matters, and ask Denise to find me a financial/coporate leader for the rest.

I'd write off the £190m debt (or whatever it is now) owed to bet365 as a tax loss. Sell back the ground and CW to the club for £1 each. Appoint BDO to sell to the best, not necessarily highest, bidder. With the proceeds build a station next to the ground to be remembered by rather than the catastrophe my leadership created.
