I guess its like many stories in that there is always two or sometimes 3 sides to a story. I've read a biography on him some years back. Dont know the author or how many biographies have been done but I don't recall it trying to hint Stan was at fault for leaving. More that the club needed the money and didn't think Stan leaving would ruin our title chances that season. I've never given it much thought since but I guess if he'd stayed we'd have had a better chance to win the league that year. Not much we can do know I guess and I'm glad he's remembered for being a Stoke player rather than a Blackpool player. Even though he won the FA Cup with them.....the gits 😆 Didn't he ask for a transfer more than once though? Apparently was keen to join Blackpool. I think he's very much associated with Blackpool despite not being there as long as Stoke of course but more to do with the Cup final. Not as much as us obviously Blackpool borrowed him for a bit. Stan is ours 🙂

The timing as well. Handed in 2 transfer requests just looked up

Make hay while the sun shines and all that. Still felt sick when Steino and then Thorne left however 😢

Remember these were the days when being a pro footballer did not set you up for life.

Other than Powell, Souttar, Burger and Bae I can't think of a single other player that I've looked forward to seeing on the team sheet since relegation. Honourable mentions to Fletch and Collins and maybe Baker, but only just. The rest have been just really uninspiring players who occasionally put in a decent showing. It's not hard to justify the criticisms. He wasn't selected very often, thanks to Rowett and Jones' insecurities and egos, but whenever Bojan was brought back into the side after relegation he did change the pre-match mood considerably, but otherwise you're probably right. You could say that McClean, Tymon, and Clucas (two former POTYs) had their moments, but for the amount of time they spent here they were frequently disappointing.
