When we went up in 2008, circa 6/7 of that team made the grade and played in the Premiership for a year or two. Some were perhaps playing above their level (Wilko and Dicko spring to mind).
Looking at the current squad, I can see no further than Burger and possibly Junior (although not on yesterday’s form) being capable of playing at that level.
Sadly, I have to concede we’re light years away from seeing too flight football again. And yes, I know our results place us closer to league 1. Just more supporting material sadly.

Many played almost the entire end of their career in the prem. Even when we looked for a Whelan upgrade he switched places with us by getting promoted with Villa so was good enough for that.
So when we look at just how incredible our failure has been, this is the standard by which our players should be judged.
We should be recruiting potential premier League players. We look more like League 1

Just a thoroughly depressing weekend.
Sick of football to be honest.

What worries me is not that this group couldn’t survive in the premier league. It’s that I’m not sure they could survive in League one

I said before we got relegated, it's bounce back up or be in this league for the next 15+ years.
I don't agree with a lot of Tony Pulis' football philosophy, but compare and contrast the types of players / personalities he would seek out, to the recruitment policy (whatever the fuck it is) that we have now.
Again, we're not going anywhere but continuing to rot under the current hierarchy.

All we need to do is bring TP back. It will all happen again and a new era of success will dawn.
“Nurse!”
“NURSE!!”
“Yes, he’s doing it again.”

More likely to go down and pay our dues in L1like sunderland did than looking upwards.

Time to stop dreaming of the premier league I’m afraid. We must, however ensure survival this season. League one will be a mare as the likes of Sheff Weds, Leeds, Sunderland etc have found out in recent times

We gotta stop the fall now, before it's League 1. F*ck the PL for now. Going up there is a 2 year process involving several miracles, a talisman, several lawyers and a witch doctor.

we weren't good enough to go up in 2008 but we did it with blood sweat and determination, TP had every last man fight and try for the club, for the shirt and for themselves, we played an ugly style of football and weren't afraid to get in the faces of anyone in front of us, we might not have thought highly about the way we played in the end but that is exactly what we need Wednesday night, we need an ugly hostile aggressive atmosphere on and off the pitch all directed at QPR, they need to go off at half time and absolutely hate the idea of coming back out, that's how we got up and thats how we will have to play if we ever want to get back

We won't be bothering the automatic or the play-off promotion places any time soon with that shower.
Truly, truly dreadful doesn't cover it.
Burger looks like a player and he definitely cares.
Bae has something about him and Junior also.
As for the rest?
Forget it - and that includes newbies Manhoof (sic) and his Plymouth knights in shining armour: Cundle (looked like an U18) and Ennis (who tried but sadly failed, albeit with little or no service).
Buckle up, it's going to be a proper white-knuckle ride to avoid the drop.
If, indeed, we can now.
