At this point a reset and watching us being competitive in div 1 may be for the best.
Though woth this lot in charge I will pro be watching conference before the decade is out.
Looks a lot like snake oil being sold from the top.

Looks a lot like snake oil being sold from the top. We said that about going down from the PL. Peter and John Coates literally put our a club statement promising a 'major overhaul' - which ended up just being spunking £50m on dross and hiring a British manager to play hoofball. www.stokecityfc.com/news/club-statement-16Going down to the third tier would be a disaster. It would set the club back years and there is no guarantee that we'd suddenly get the recruitment right and go straight back up. It would be like the 1990s all over again. Years of dross and scrapping it out with clubs like Burton or Northampton.

It won’t be a reset and we won’t be competitive. It’ll be the same shite a league lower.
You’d think the fuckin “reset” fantasy might have been consigned to history by the years 2018-2024

There is no guts or fight in many of the players.
League 1 would be a disaster. Bullied and outfought every week.
The last time I heard this argument was 2018.
“It will be nice to see us win a lot of games in the championship” - yeah, that worked out well

Why not dissolve the club and start again in the conference North, we'd piss that tinpot league! 😁

We Must NOT go down.
ST sales would be a disaster
That ground would be empty every week and still lose to Stockport
I hate that word reset. Its come from computers and mobile phones. Complete and utter bollocks..The real world doesn't work like that. Would love to reset to 1971 though ..FA Cup semi finals and all that...

The theory of a “reset” by dropping a division is ridiculous. There is no such thing. Div one is a tough league. Our current playing staff are not made of the right stuff to get out of this league. It would be a Stoke City Style catastrophe. Absolutely no positives to a relegation whatsoever.

Relegation would be a disaster. FFP will be a lot tougher. We would have to cash in on our better players and would be left with the dross that we can't shift. The thought of having to play against Premier League U21 teams in the Johnstone Paints trophy makes me go cold.

Yeah let's have a reset. Let's go back to the days of Bristol Rovers and Colchester sticking 3s and 4s past us at home.
I don't think people have thought this through...

We would not come straight back up.
We’d be more likely to go down again.
We have to stay up.

I remember a lot of people saying this when we were staring down the barrel in the premier league. That didn't work out too well now did it? A relegation can never be a good thing. We wouldn't piss league one, in fact I think we would struggle to get out of it in the next five years.

Going down this season would be disastrous.
We’ll be stuck with a load of shite contracted players that not only lack the required bottle to deal with what League One will throw at them but will also be unhappy because they’ll think they’re above that level.

It took us 4 years to bounce back last team we dropped into the third tier.
And we went down with some players you could hang your hat on: Kavanagh and Thorne were way too good for that level.
Who can you say that about from the current crop? The only ones you’d include (Burger) won’t stick around.
It’s not a reset, it’s just another rung down the ladder - when we are already a million miles away from where the club was just 7/8 years ago.

We have to do whatever it takes to stay in the league. If that takes looking at the managers position so be it. Relegation would be a disaster

If a short term appointment gets us the points, I'd do it. Obviously no guarantee, but I think we go down if SS stays. I'm not mad at him, but he's out of his depth. We looked steadier when Gallagher was in charge!

We've got Jon, who looks like he's about to have a nervous breakdown and has a catalogue of disastrous errors, Tricky who gives Jez Moxey a run for his money in the "snake" stakes, Data boy Jared who comes across like he's won everything going on Football Manager, and Simon King who I've heard isn't liked around the club. It's an utter mess.

This could seriously knacker the club for a long period. Supporter numbers will dwindle, commercial finances across multiple sources will drop and we’ll be lumbered with players on excessive championship contracts.

The trouble is, the previous relegation was a reset. Exactly what most people thought the Championship would be. As is, we're just downgrading ourselves every year, probably without even realising, standards get lower and lower. Right now we're talking about whether there's 3 teams worse to keep us in the Championship. Could you have imagined that downgrade 6 years ago? Unfortunately we'll probably be talking about tricky away days to Oxford once more. The decline is staggering. The only hope we've got now is that if we do go down, we emulate Wolves from years ago in some way. What a fucking mess.
