Just flatten Shelton and build a 80,000 mega dome with retractable roof and all the IPA in the world with cable car transport from all towns. Easy peasy Just flatten shelton would do.. It’d certainly be a start

Think we were too optimistic this could be turned round quickly, it is taking time to balance this squad, I don't think we are that bad a side if we sorted the target man and the left back out.

Survival has to be the aim. We aren’t going to challenge anything this year again. If we could squeek top half it’d be a huge achievement at this point

The stadium. We moved from our historic home. First mistake. Our first game was a half arsed cup game against Rochdale. We sneaked a win. Sir Stan was asked to hit the ball in the net from the halfway line on our first official league game. He was in his 70s. The ball didn't make it. We lost the game against Swindon setting the tone for the season. We then proceed to get relegated in our first season in our new home. After years of obscurity we get to the premier league. Stadium is a fortress. We expand said stadium and get relegated. Its a fucking jinx of a place. We need to move back to stoke. Surely we can find a small plot and start again. I think the Sir Stan miss was from the penalty spot if my memory serves, I remember being embarrassed for all involved.

They’d have been better to have had him dribble down the right wing a cross it for Big John to nod it home. Our fortunes would have grown from that I’m sure.

Everyone’s played a part
Started with Hughes who until has last season had done a great job. Signing the likes of Jese, Imbula and Berahino in his last season. That said he left us in a situation where we should have stayed up.
Whoever made the decision to bring in Gallagher a man totally out of his depth who couldn’t have got us the small number of points that would have kept us up. Gallagher himself.
Gary Rowett who spent some ridiculous fees on players with zero sell on value that completely wrecked our best chances of going straight back up whist putting us in a mess with FFP.
Nathan Jones who tried his best but took us further down the wrong road and wasted more money.
Alex Neil who had a fresh start and messed it up and took us further back with the most awful style of play.
Add to that John Coates, Cartwright and Scholes who have overseen it all. Being prudent when we’ve need to go the extra mile and then sanctioning stupid and reckless deals for has beens like Dwight Gayle and Sam Vokes.
The players of course can’t be blameless in this. Some of there attitudes have been awful. To expect effort from someone that’s on huge wages should be a given. This of course doesn’t cover some that have worked their boots off.

For me it was mostly a calamitous summer recruitment campaign.
Everything R.Martin seems to touch, and it's everything football wise, seems to turn to shit.
John Coates blind faith in him is inexplicable to me.

Whoever has recruited this squad of players.
I'm not sure who actually says "let's sign him" etc. Does the manager have input or the final say?
With the small amount of money spent then we're pretty much where I'd thought we'd be in the league table so my expectations have been met.
If people think we are near to being a top 6 side then they're delusional. Until the owners change we'll never get near it.

I don’t personally blame the owners but if I was Peter Coates I’d deffo build a new stadium in the town centre, using the Bet 365 petty cash they could leave a ground to be proud of with all the mod cons ever thought of. Our current stadium was the best we could afford at the time , using second hand drawings bought from Middlesbrough architects that saved £100 000. A lot of the budget at the time. However Sunderland we’re much braver and got their stadium for a couple of mil more than we spent. I’m not complaining about our stadium, we could be in vale park but if I was Coatsie I’d give us something for the city to be proud of for many years.

I blame the Coates family for taking us up to the Premiership, keeping us there for 10 years and raising expectations above a sustainable level.
Why couldn’t they just keep their fuckin millions in their pockets and leave us in the 2nd tier of English football for ever.
Bastards. How dare they dream

Surely Peter Coates who left his legacy for the meerkat John Coates. Peter was a big mover in the FA whilst John is more comfortable in Charlie chalks.

It's not about who is to blame.
It's about going forward and moving away from the rubbish we have endured.
It looks like we have a good young manager at last.
Look at Southampton, had a poor start to the season and now they are up there. The fans were not overly happy with the manager or the owners. But they are happy now.
We can't change what has happened.

Just taking into account this season, who is to blame? Is it the management? under Neil maybe, Schumacher has defiantly made us create more and we've done okay at times under him Is its Jared and Ricky? their clearly poor signings aren't doing the business, a nice few technical players but lack any conviction in both boxes, as well as not signing in key positions The owners? Made poor decisions no doubt but hard to blame them for our players not being able score more than 2 out of 35 shots in the last 2 games Players attitude? Schumacher's presser spoke volumes too me, the laziness in terms of professionalism has always stood out to me, not just running about but reactions when chances are missed they couldn't seem more unbothered, its the same in the warm up prior to kick off, for me players have got off really lightly the past few months Roger, everyone.

The owners, it’s quite simple really. They employed a manager who had never achieved anything with his own players, let him more or less appoint the technical director himself who then appointed a chief scout who’s limited knowledge seems to come from a Football Manager database. They unsurprisingly recruited badly, and the manager then made a bad job of assembling the badly recruited players. Sure, you can blame others too like I just have, but the owners employed them whilst implementing the new staffing model in a comically bad way, so the blame ultimately lies with Coates Jnr. I wonder what influence Scholes had at the time of changeover between PC and JC. The TD with global experience, Cartwright? Three years previously playing in goal for Leek Town. If this is the era you’re alluding to it stinks.
