What the fuck is a holiday camp anyway? Is Barbara Windsor flouncing around with her tits out and Kenneth Williams espousing double entendres?

What the fuck is a holiday camp anyway? Is Barbara Windsor flouncing around with her tits out and Kenneth Williams espousing double entendres? That would be more ‘carry on camping’ Holiday camp would be more ‘Hi-de-Hi’ Either way, it seems that some players regard training as a laugh or optional. If they aren’t working hard enough as professionals, get them out.

Rinse and repeat. Well it wasn’t intimated to be a good working atmosphere under AN, that worked well. God only knows where some of you people work. people aren’t terrified of their boss anymore, what decade do you live in?

Is it a reliable sauce within the club or was it just someone making bollocks up on here and it's become Oatcake folklore.

No it was either someone from the Sentinel or Radio Stoke who frequents CW who said the atmosphere was pretty awful when AN was in charge. So a good working atmosphere suddenly turns into a holiday camp when things don’t just go our way. A couple of bad results and what you need is some fucking hypocrite bully boy going about the place being a completely unreasonable prick and then having a violent naked tantrum when someone dares question him.

I accept that Neil's attitude might have wound a few up, he wound me up, but the OP said it had been like that for years. I was just wondering where that had come from? Rumours like that largely come from disaffected players/ex players and their mardy strops are hardly unbiased generally speaking.

Hi de hi was the second worse TV show ever broadcast Bread wins that I loved Joe Maplin and his letters to his staff which started with - "now listen up you lot" Mr Partridge, the childs entertainer who hated kids was genius. I agree about Bread, it was dreadful, self indulgent scouse shite.

All time off should be cancelled and they should run up mountains for a week. That’ll teach them to score. It worked for Tone NOT!

This forum is never any different. We win a couple and it’s sunshine and rainbows. Lose a couple and it’s the depths of hell. The bipolar nature of the oatcake is hilarious if nothing else.

Neither do clubs they know it’s miles cheaper changing a manager/head coach than half a squad when relationships breakdown. There is far more evidence at Stoke that players have lost faith in managers rather than downed tools or self sabotaged.

I've never understood this argument. What makes it a holiday camp, do they have redcoats there? Is there a beach at Clayton Woods?
Players have contracts, you can't just 'not pay a player' because they haven't shown the required amount of desire or something. It's that sort of attitude that has people wanting Roy Keane to be given management jobs still.

Or the manager looses faith in the players 🤷 The managers keep changing and so do the players. There isn’t some conveyor belt of feckless wasters that ends at Stoke contrary to popular belief. AN went into self preservation mode. Former pros commented whilst it was happening we’d become too scared of losing to try to win. And both Schu and Burger have skirted it since. Comments like players enjoy playing attacking football, points to the fact that they weren’t previously enjoying their football. Unfortunately there’s a significant section of Stoke fans that think both playing and watching football is something to be endured not enjoyed.

Players have contracts, you can't just 'not pay a player' because they haven't shown the required amount of desire or something. It's that sort of attitude that has people wanting Roy Keane to be given management jobs still. It’s where players play without fear of what happens to them or the club they play for. We used to have players who bought in to the club and would run through walls for SCFC. There is a perception that now the players can do as little as they want and will suffer no repercussions as a result. They can leave the end of their contract and play elsewhere as people can just blame the club rather than individual players. I don’t know if that’s entirely the case but it would explain why we are in such a rut.
