We had a young French lad iirc who was highly rated and sought after by a quite a few prem teams. Was seen as a coup that we got him.
Then he left to go to either the German or French league to play first team football. Can’t remember what his name was but if anyone can remember who I’m on about what happened to him in the end and has he gone on to fulfill his potential ?

Yeah I think that was him. Could’ve have sworn he was French! 😂 Doesn’t seem to have really pushed on given the hype he had.

Was disappointed when he left. He did have a decent career in Italy I believe.

Sankoh is doing well in Holland at the moment. He was a beast of player. Still only 20.
Ngoy is in Turkey having not really done anything anywhere.
Verlinden isn't pulling up any trees in the 2nd division in Belgium.
Kyeremateng has just gone on loan in Switzerland from a Belgian side.
None of the ones we had high hopes for are doing anything really but Sankoh is starting to look good

Sankoh may well surpass him, of course.

Verlinden?
Must have been clerical errors as still not a star of the Belgian national side

Sankoh may well surpass him, of course. Marshall was a guest on the “under the cosh” podcast a few years ago. He didn’t come across particularly well in my opinion. He was trying to be funny with his tales about boozing and womanising, but actually came over as a prat lacking the application and desire to make it at the top. You can see why Pulis wasn’t having him.

Verlinden? Must have been clerical errors as still not a star of the Belgian national side He’s tearing up the Belgian second division. I’d estimate the standard to be somewhere between league 2 and the Vanarama League.

Eddy Lecygne?
I think he pretty much hated the football machine, was homesick and was generally not happy here or with the game in general.

We had Sergio Molina as well (from Real Madrid). Looks like he's now in the Spanish Second Division playing for FC Andorra (the club Gerard Pique owns).
Off topic but I spotted Kieran Coates playing for Chester against Ollie Shenton's Chorley earlier in the season (Conference North). Adam Porter's also in the Conference South for Truro City.

I noticed that Martin Patterson now manages Burton the other night. How did that happen? I remember him being our next big hope and now he's a manager? He didn't have a bad career as a player either did he? Playing in the Premier with Burnley being the highlight.

He didn't have a bad career as a player either did he? Playing in the Premier with Burnley being the highlight. He had a strange career, peaked young when he had a really good spell at Scunthorpe, earned a move to Burnley, had an excellent first season then never consistently scored many goals anywhere again. He retired young and was a coach under Michael Duff at both Barnsley and Swansea.
