Ours recently said the changes to the NHS meant they'd be out of business in 6 months unless they went private which to be honest thought was absolute bullshit. Heard the receptionist say they had 8k on the list and they knew they'd only keep 4k but that would be more 'sustainable' moving forward.
For two visits and two cleans we are now £20 each me and my wife. Don't worry though - wee one can stay NHS and they'll do a check-up every 18 month - fuck that! Added the wee one to the plan and that's another £6.
Ok some of them will be kids but 4k folk at £20 a month is looking at £750k-£1m a year depending on how many are kids purely for just looking at yer gnashers. There's only 3 dentists too, rent would ne negligible, the receptionist/ nurses won't be on a fortune, insurance would be dear but there's still going be fat in that before factoring in the actual treatment.
What a fucking con - will be coming on the health side too would imagine and within 10 years wouldn't be surprised if you had to be in some sort of scheme just to get a look in.
Wankers.

My experience of UK dentists has not been good. I found that technology was way ahead and competency was at least comparable in Taiwan, Thailand and Kazakhstan. A number of guys I know from work have chosen to get work done in Kazakhstan rather than the UK. Equally as good and a third of the price. One bloke had a complete set of new gnashers (not falsies)...to be fair his teeth look a bit daft because he chose the super white version. They just seem out of place in the gums of a 60yr old.

The communists and the ultra right wing party here had a suggestion they agreed upon and it was very good actually: see the tooth as a part of the body. Make sense, doesn't it? In our "Primärvården" (NHS) it would mean you would be able to use a free card and get all the fake tooth you want for free. To get the free card within our kind of NHS you must have paid a total of 2500 SEK (£190) in a year, to doctor visits, nurses, physio therapists et cetera. It's not that hard to get up to. And then - for the rest of the calendar year - every visit or surgery is free. And now the mentioned two parties want to include dentist visits and treatments as well.

Our dentist became private last year. Monthly charge £16 each for me and the wife - just increased to £17. That allows two check-ups and two hygienist checks per year. I had root canal work on one tooth last year which cost £440 ! This time I've got to have root canal on another tooth, and a crown which, to quote the dentist, is "only £1080" ! A filling is £100, and an extraction is £200, absolute daylight bloody robbery isn't it. We've phoned all round our area and there are no NHS dentists and the others were all quoting £20 a month.

Fuck knows how they managed years ago without modern medicines I had one out two years ago, when I was 29, the last time I went to the dentist before then was probably when I was 14/15. I thought in that amount of time that had elapsed, they’d give me the usual jollop and just laser it out or something but nope, out came the pliers and he yanked at my decrepit molar with all the ferocity of a 14 year old boy with a fast internet connection.

Had major issues growing up with my dentist ..In and out of dentistry as a result
At the time of being attacked in Padova ( Anglo Italian ) I didn’t have a dentist .. lost or severely damaged at least 12 teeth on the night ….eventually months , might have been yrs later went the Dental Hospital in Liverpool in agony , saved by the wonderful Dr Longman who lectured on and specialised in sedation training , for a while took me on her books 🙂 eventually passed to community dentistry ..with them until their funding for me ran out ..fell out of dentistry again for abot 4-5 years few yrs ..until last year , plucked up enough courage to try again ..only had enough courage for one attempt and attempts to get on a NHS list would have seen me give up ..
Fortunate to have the funds to go private ...initially hoped for full mouth implants .. not the bright white lemo teeth favoured by drug dealers up here ..dentist advised against in my case .. initial stabilisation costs were huge , including losing yet more teeth , stabilisation work now completed and I’m on a plan
Would still prefer full implants ..but happier than I was and currently pain free
Admittedly I was fortunate to have funding to find a solution , I just had to find the solution ,but if there’s people out there reading this thread who like me have fallen out the system , many more dentists are now aware of seriously nervous patients ..thanks to people like Dr Longman ..don’t give up

A monthly pay agreement. I have a dentist within our type of NHS you can say (Folktandvården). The monthly pay level depends on your age and tooth std. I pay £18 monthly. Fake teeth are not yet included tough. My neighbour said he has several crowns. I have never in my life been close to get one. In my case the time from a small hole to "we have to pull it out" is very short. I remember once when I was at a regular control and it looked fine apart from a small hole in one tooth. They were supposed to fix that, but when I got back 14 days later the whole tooth was grey and brown. Completely rotten and they had to pull it. The dentist also said to put a crown or bridge in a patient's mouth requires the surrounding teeth are of a good standard and ideally never even had a hole once. Besides, paying 60-70% of what a new fake tooth with a lifetime guarantee would cost to get a crown with an expected life of 1-5 years sounds strange to me.
