If we at last manage a goal that isn’t a penalty or an OG on Saturday, it’ll be 91 days since we last do so! That’s a massive eight (8) games without an open play goal from a Stoke player. Must surely rank as one of the longest runs in our history? Watford away seemed a lot less than 91 days ago. Doesn't time fly when you're getting on! BM HOME games!!

Big game.
They’ll be much better than when we played them at theirs.
We need to get our home form going.
Score some goals.
We’re so poor at home, hopefully tomorrow is the start of a change to that.
By contrast can easily see a 0-1 to Brum score line.

Who are available? Only Junior and Laurent out of the question for this game? If so this would be my line-up:
..........................Iversen........................... Gooch.............Wilmot...........Rose............Thompson ..........................Burger........................... .................Junho..............Baker.................. Campbell...................Mmaee....................Vidigal

For a manager with a reputation for attacking football what has pleased me most has been Schumacher's pragmatism in starting by making the team hard to beat and not just go gung ho for goals. The defence looks way more solid since he has arrived and the work rate and competitiveness of the midfield has gone up a couple of notches.
Creating goal scoring opportunities is still our major weakness but we now have a platform to make this happen. Commit your midfield to supporting the attack with a flakey defence and it will only end in tears. If the midfield can trust the defence to do their job they have more freedom to get forward.
I can't see the Birmingham game being the start of the floodgates opening. They were massively underperforming when we played them recently and the scoreline didn't actually reflect the balance of chances in the game - Birmingham had more but lost because their defence was all over the place and looked devoid of confidence. I'd take a 1-0 win and some evidence of us showing a bit more attacking intent while remaining solid at the back.

Think I'd go with;
Iversen
Hoever McNally Rose Thompson
Burger Baker Cundle
Vidigal Mmaee Bae
I'd give Gooch, Campbell and Wilmott more time to train and get up to speed. I don't think Thompson has done too bad covering at LB so no immediate rush to bring back Gooch. I really like Bae but the only way I can shoehorn him in would be to play out wide left although I'd prefer him through the middle.

I think that will be the team. Whilst not a fan of Bae out wide, he does beat his man more than either Vidigal or Haks, so for that reason he gets the nod over Haks..

Looking at the board in Shouy's office looks like we're lining up with three at the back? I expect Stevens to start, the way he's been bigging him up! As he said, selection headaches!
Could be anything!
Iversen
Rose McNally Stevens
Hoever Burger Baker Thompson
Bae Mmaee Vidigal
Could be very fluid and/or solid.

Think we could break the 26k barrier tomorrow - for the first time since the Blackpool ticket offer game in March '22? 25871 Leeds 23-24 25512 S'land 23-24 23970 Hull 22-23 23486 WBA 22-23 23612 B'pool 22-23 26384 B'pool 21-22 23502 B'ham 21-22 23086 Cov 21-22 25359 Sheff W 19-20 25436 Cardiff 19-20 24,004 QPR 19-20 www.footballwebpages.co.uk/stoke-city/attendances/2018-2019Possibly on for our biggest crowd since the tail end of 18-19 under Jones when we had a good run of 26k+ crowds?

If Campbell is fit then he has to play for me, also I hope the Cundle signing does not restrict Junho to the bench.
Iversen
Hoever Rose McNally Gooch
Burger Baker Junho
Campbell Mmae Vidigal

I think he will start with Bae, he loves his versatility and even out wide he can still beat his man, which is more than Haks or Vidigal do, Vidigal does offer goals though. I would hope Lowe retains his place on the bench at the expense of either Wesley or Gayle.

We have to field one u-21 player on the bench, so with Simkin out on loan again, that spot falls to Lowe, Sidibe, or, if fit, Tezgel.

Gonna be a fun day in ST4 today, Staffords ram packed full of Blues fans on the lash. About 5 unofficial coaches off loaded and the lads have been merrily supping all morning..

No trains into Stoke today, so to be expected that alternative routes would be taken, always a good atmosphere with Brum, and historically one of the bigger crowds we get in a season. Sold out blocks in the South Stand allude to this. Looking forward to it.

Must surely rank as one of the longest runs in our history? This has been on my mind as well since Shuey arrived. We are a lot more positive, creating more chances, although not many last outing, but still failing to score from open play. We need to actually convert the positivity into goals and then we will be in business. All it needs is a goal or two to build confidence in the forwards.
