Does this deserve its own thread?
I see Egypt drew 2-2 with Mozambique in the opener today courtesy of a 90+7 penalty from Salah, quel suprise!
Egypt normally win the whole thing, although so far as I can tell Egypt isn't in Africa.

Egypt (Arabic: مصر Miṣr [mesˁr], Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [mɑsˤr]), officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a transcontinental country spanning the northeast corner of Africa and the Sinai Peninsula in the southwest corner of Asia.

Partly in Africa and Asia - surely this qualifies them for the Eurovision

I see Onana played for Man United yesterday and Cameroon today. How is that allowed?

I see Onana played for Man United yesterday and Cameroon today. How is that allowed? Must be some special deal with the club? Not demanding some compensation money or something? Saw the Egypt-Mozambique game last night, and Egypt were lethargic. Mozambique deserved to win. The peno was probably correct, but VAR wouldn't have given it the other way, just like the "smaller" teams in the PL don't get them either. Looking forward to seeing Junior tonight! Even if I do want him to come back quickly.

He had some disagreement before and said would come back on his terms

Cape Verdi beat Ghana 2 1 Cape Verde's winning goal in the 92nd minute was a wonderful example of "schoolboy defending". I hadn't realised that Chris Hughton was now the Ghana manager until I saw him on the touchline. The commentary suggested that he has not yet won over the Ghana fans. I don't think last night will have increased his popularity.

Great example of the respect he has for his country.

Somewhat ominous when the commentator says before the KO, "let's hope both teams finish with eleven men" !!
Guinea score as I type.

Anybody else hoping Cameroon get knocked out early? Ominous if they lose to Guinea, you'd imagine winner of this game goes through, with both capable of beating Zambia and Senegal favourites for the whole thing. That 3rd game is 24th, Jr back for Sunderland away please.

Juniors brother seems to think they won’t make it past the group stages with Song in charge.
Also interesting that they are playing a centre back in RWB position, plays for Metz. Doesnt look like he offers the same energy that Junior does

I think he’s coming across as a frustrated fan more than anything, but I’d imagine he is a bit biased towards his brother 😂
