Not a big fan of oatcakes, can take or leave
I can't abide garlic so a big no there for me but I often wondered what they would taste like warm with vanilla ice cream
Works with pancakes and might actually work with oatcakes . Am actually going to try it next time am at the shops.
Out of curiosity has anyone ever done this ?
Apple pie filling could work as well

I'm strictly conservative when it comes to the oatcakes I'm afraid. If it doesn't belong on a full English, it doesn't belong in a cheese oatcake.
I would be interested to know people's preferred method of prep and cooking though. Are you a one or two 'lanes' of cheese kinda person or do you just indiscriminately dump a tonne of grated on there?
I'd be particularly interested in knowing if anyone can achieve a decent level of caramelisation on the cheese without overly crisping the oatcake.

Anything full English, yes, absolutely - Some of the suggestions on here just scream of sick minds. My wife is from Cheshire and I had the pleasure of introducing her to the delights of the oatcake - she promptly slathered it in nutella and I'm frankly gobsmacked I married her.

Well yes, I did know beforehand, but in my defence she has got a smashing pair of bangers. However, Cheshire fucking cheese mate?!? Christ! Might as well put soap on them! Grill the oatcake till its just going crispy, spread with proper butter while the oatcake is still warm so the butter melts, top with strawberry jam, then roll it up - lovely!

your all sick, utterly depraved wrong'uns
i thought i pushed a line by eating north staffs oatcakes every now and then but this is beyond wrong
cheese bacon/sausage
sauce brown or red
thats it, not bloody duck or dry roasted peanuts
anybody who disagrees needs the hard drive on the computer checking

I took a mate in Canada some oatcakes once, he specifically asked for Cheshire cheese to go with them, apparently you can't take cheese into Canada as I found out going through the airport 🤦 I find Cheshire cheese ok on oatcakes, especially with brown sauce, prefer cheddar tho.

Cheshire is wrong, it doesn't seem to melt like Cheddar or a bit of blue Stilton with sausages.

I occasionally try a thin spread of mustard under the cheese.
Must admit I have started to microwave them recently.
Always have cheese and tomatoes on matchdaysâš“

Cheshire is wrong but blue stilton and sausage is fine? 🤔 I don't often have Cheshire but I don't remember having an issue with it melting tbh.
