Can anyone here distinguish their different accents? Apparently they can, quite easily, but I haven’t got a clue. What are you talking aboot? 'about/aboot' is literally the only way I can tell. I go to Toronto every year for work and we stay in the Theatre district and there is a sidewalk 'walk of fame'. I imagine it was instigated for this very reason. Every year I walk over it on the way to the Elephant & Castle followed by favourite Thai restaurant and say something like "Oh I didnt know Kim Cattrall/Michael J Fox" etc was Canadian. Like, every year I learn a new famous Canadian

Don't know who that is but I had a primary school teacher called Mrs Jepson who had a massive nose ...you couldn't help but stare. She could be in the classroom and her nose in the staff room

Less glamourous than big Pam Anderson but another win for the British loyalists

Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogan, Keane Reeves. Didn't know the last two were Canadians. Ryan Reynolds - every single time his perfect jawline appears on TV, my wife delights in telling my kids that 'if anything ever happens to Daddy, there's your new Daddy'. All shits and giggles until I tell them that if anything ever happens to Mummy, then my son's mate's mum is their next Mum. Then she gets her arse out for some reason.

I always thought Celine Dion was Swiss due to Eurovision and a Canadian citizen but apparently not.
Brian Budd, Superstars fans will remember him. Think he was Canadian, time to visit Google. Was he a football player in the NASL?

I have lived in Canada for 14 years. I only found out recently that Neve Campbell is Canadian.
The accent is easy to tell from Americans once you’re familiar with it. It can be difficult to tell where people are from here locally or even regionally as the accents don’t vary as much as the UK. You need to travel quite far in UK terms to hear a difference. There are a few exceptions mostly on the East Coast. I live on the border. The accent is completely different from that on the American side.
The about aboot thing is the biggest misconception about Canadian accents and comes from the Americans. Canadians say aboat not aboot.

Ryan Gosling, Donald and Kiefer Sutherland, James Cameron. Kiefer born in London and I believe holds a UK passport? You're spot on. He's dual nationality and both his parents are Canadian so he sort of counts

Looks like Niagara Falls is an easy day trip from Toronto, what's the best area in Toronto to stay, the waterfront area ?
