10 !
Mightily impressed with the total transformation after just a few days. Hoever needs dropping /sending back though. Give Schuey a bit more time, add a GK and CB (minimum) and we should see a steady climb.
Just shows how useless AN was.

Nah, the team is still poor; Schumacher has given them the confidence to perform at 7/10 instead of their natural 5.
The defence in particular needs open heart surgery.

My steam was terrible but luckily I got the goals which were a very pleasant surprise. The same on a regular basis would be very nice and go a long way to rescuing us from another season from hell.

10 for the result and performance. The fact we moved the ball quickly was the biggest difference to Neilโs reign, the amount of times our midfield prior to this had been holding the ball pirouetting 3 times the passing it backwards at the end of Neilโs reign was ridiculous. If anyone drives from midfield in the championship they break lines and create chances, exactly what Burger and Jun ho were doing. This made space and room for everyone else. We carried on the second half from Millwall into this game and it showed a distinct change in style.

Please can we not call him SS? And certainly never call him 'the SS', it will always be a bit weird and uncomfortable to read. 9 from me, though. How about SSS? Super Steven Schumacher! So nice to feel proud of our team again. Perfect response for all those numbskulls who were making comments like this "Sorry that was absolutely awful, SS looked lost and reliant on PG who was running the show, sat right behind the dug out. Awful squad and no way SS will get a show out of this lot." after the bloke had been on the job for 3 days. I am looking forward to a new era where, win, lose, or draw, we look like we are trying to win!

8. Signs are promising but green shoots were evident in the early MON, Rowett and Neil days before things went to shit. We do seem a re-energised team but these type of games have often suited us. A side that opens up and leaves us space is what we tend to do well against. Especially when theyโre as shite as Brum. Today may have been down to SS but I think it could also have been down to the sheer incompetence of Rooney. They were baddddddd. Disagree about there being green shoots at the start of Rowett's reign. He was a disaster from day one, remember Leeds away in the opening game? You knew deep down immediately from that game that there were big problems and the expected battle for automatic promotion probably wasn't happening that season. Can't remember too many green shoots early days with Neil either, things were pretty dour and underwhelming right from the start. O'Neill I agree with, it started brilliantly with him but he seemed to lose his way once the pressure to win every week that he had in his first season went away. Unnecessary caution came into his game and he was always at his best when he allowed us to attack. You're also right about Rooney. Birmingham are a basket case and their record under Rooney is terrible for a reason. That said we've lost to other basket cases this season like Sheffield Wednesday and QPR so you can't take any win for granted and there were many positive signs. The next two games will tell us a lot.

One of our biggest problems in the last two years has been that we were so glacially slow in moving forwards that the opponants had all 11 men behind the ball before we started every attack. We simply have a squad of players who couldn't break through that so we created almost no real scoring opportunities - the times we looked like a "better" team under O'Neill and Neil are those games we progressed forwards and/or broke quickly to put the opposition under pressure. We stand a much better chance of getting into games and scoring when we attack and there are less than six defenders to pass round / beat to the ball.
I still say we need to leave a striker on the half way line for opposition corners / free kicks, it drags two players, usually including at least one of the better heading defenders out of our box making set pieces easier to defend.

Yeah I've never, ever understood the idea of bringing everyone back for corners. It invites more pressure with more attacking players in the box and creates a 'too many cooks' scenario from a defensive point of view with too many defenders getting in each others way and sometimes confusion over who needs to do what. Always better to leave someone up to take two attacking players away, reduce congestion and confusion in the box and provide an out ball to clear it. Pulis used to do it and it drove me mad.

For that game, a 10. To try and keep my feet on the ground, 7. Trying not to get carried away. A long way to go but donโt think you could ask for a better start. Donโt think Millwall was much to do with him.
