Not a budgie but gran and grandad got given a cocktiel.
That multiplied to two when the first one was noisy as hell And some quick thinking salesman told them the best thing do was get him a mate.
The best beneficiary though was the cat that sat at the bottom of their cage, longing for a chance.

Used to have a couple of 'budgie' shirts as a kid, nothing to do with the feathered variety, think it was to do with a character on the telly.

we had one, then we ended up with two when my nans neighbour decided she didnt like the racket hers made!
the day it fell off its perch in front of me was quite amusing
nowhere near as traumatic as the day my parents dog got run over when i was 3, that once came up in a counselling session, still horrendous for so many reasons

My grandparents has a budgie when I was little so that's what made me think about them. Always felt like a poor man's parrot to me as could only say a few phrases.
Seems like they're a pet of the past though as I never hear people having budgies in todays age.

Why does nobody have budgies anymore? Did anyone here ever have one? I suppose because it's pretty cruel keeping a flying bird caged up for 24*7

We had a blue budgie, Peter, in the early 1960s that could talk. It died when I was about 6 and my parents tried to replace it with a new one that was the same colour. Unfortunately, the new budgie couldn't talk, so even the 6 year old me realised something wasn't quite right! Can't even remember what happened to the second budgie.

Me again!
Yes , we have 4 budgies, 3 Zebra and 2 Begalese finches.
We have an aviary. 2 of the Zebras are in a cage as they can't fly and get bullied in the aviary by the other birds. Animals can be cruel to each other, like some humans.
My wife is the budgie fancier and always had them and bred them. She can get them on her hand.
I prefer Canaries. Beautiful singers, but they have all died over the years (they're a lot more delicate), and I'm getting on and decided not to replace.

Named ours Stanley after Sir Stan.
Was the Wizard of shitting down the backs of curtains. Loved to perch on the curtain rail.

I assume that he was there, in part, to amuse my friend. Can’t be sure, I’ve never asked his parents why they bought him. As for funny, I thought their interactions were cute and amusing, yes. My friend played guitar and he’d pick Buster up to perch on his shoulder, who’d just bob his head back and forth while my friend was playing. They seemed very close, which doesn’t surprise me given that he’d owned Buster since about the age of 12.
