After numerous years of absolutely pathetic offerings on and off the pitch, now is the time to pull our sleeves up and get on with the job in hand.
No more excuses. No more premier league hangover, no more FFP, no more bad dressing room, no more clueless tactics, no more pathetic performances, no more structural upheaval.
Everyone at the club, take some fucking responsibility. Own the situation we are in, and put a plan in place to get us out of this shit show.
Starting on Tuesday. Whoever is in the dug out, the players need to stand up and be counted. No more easy street. No more coasting through games. No more schoolboy errors. Put a performance in and show that you belong at this level. Neil’s tactics didn’t prevent you from being able to make a decent decision or a simple 5 yard pass. Stand up, show some fucking ownership and pride in your performance and let’s move on.
No more excuses!

I agree that the players have to buck their ideas up and sharpen up their game. That should happen as a matter of course with a new manager they should want to impress. A lot depends on confidence, confident players play much better and part of coaching sportsmen is building confidence in a player, and building team confidence.
But they has to be some "orchestration ".
Firstly the manager has to be able to build a team and coach teamwork. That seems to be so lacking in British managers these days. It often seems to me that the British managers do best with the squad they are given or inherit. That seemed the case with Jones and MON. But once they are "let loose" to start acquiring players they loose control and performances get worse. Hughes was better; he basically took Pulis's squad and tweaked it with some creative players and attacking play and we had an excellent run. But once Hughes had to start rebuilding because of players leaving or aging, things fell apart as the team rebuilding was disastrous. Rowett spent £50 million from the off, bringing in expensive players, and made a disastrous mess of it. Furthermore he spoilt it for subsequent managers, leaving no money to buy, and players on long expensive contracts.
It seems to me that generally speaking the foreign managers are far better coaches getting players to play better as a team. There seems to have been a long list of foreign managers who have rebuilt Champioship teams and taken them to the Prem.
Secondly there needs to be a strategy which everyone understands and buys into. There doesn't necessarily mean the same team or tactics, you need to be flexible and adapt to circumstances, but not be infinitely variable like Jones was that just leads to confusion and despair.
Thirdly there needs to be leadership on the pitch. We have lacked that quality since Shawcross left. That leadership can take different forms: directing play, driving people, praise and encouragement, or simply leading by example - different players/people respond to different motivation. The wrong sort of leadership or lack of it, demoralised.

I agree, however, the players cannot blame a manager for schoolboy errors like lack of communication, an inability to pass 5 yards, etc. They need to stand up, be counted, and share the accountability. The lack of leadership, in its various forms, is a depressing indictment of our squad in recent years.
