Different managers, different players . Same result lazy, dozy, complacent players. Certain our pampered darlings are treated like Premier league players. Im sure its like a rest home. Join Stoke City its easy street.

I remember when Bielsa first took over at Leeds United and he made the players do litter picking around the training ground.
It was supposed to facilitate a little humility and an awareness of how lucky they were.
I always thought that it was quite a good idea.
From memory, the Leeds players were made to do a lot of community visits and engagement to help them connect with supporters.

Maybe it's just general apathy but I have very little sentiment to this side - I fell asleep at 2-1 last night and woke up on the final whistle with the reaction 'meh!' - it reminds me of the late 90s but at least there was the excuse of being skint.
Watching last night we've a centre midfielder who looks like he's slept off two bottles of MadDog 20:20 in a bus shelter and played like it too. Our defense looks completely and utterly powderpuff whilst our attack reminds me of my own face - all features are present and correct but it's a fucking struggle for it to operate synergistically!!

I think the OP is unfair on the players.
There are some who clearly seem to be past it, but in general the squad is young and keen to succeed and progress their careers.
The problem seems to be lack of systems: creating chances, tight defending, each player knowing what to do. There is so little lack of movement, urgency, etc.
There is also lack of concentration with silly mistakes, poor pases, etc. and a lack of confidence with safe sideways and backward passes, missed shots etc.
All of these are management issues that should have been corrected weeks ago.

I know Pulis had and still has his detractors. However one thing we never ever questioned was the commitment of a Pulis team. We haven't had a manager since that we can say this about.

tbh I don't blame the players as a collective that much anymore because we've gone through so many. Must be well over 100+ now since our relegation.
As for the facilities... the reality is we're not underdogs at this level. We are a well backed club so with that comes a good training ground, pitches, etc.
I don't think there's a lack of 'passion' compared to other clubs. We just have players not capable to the level, players hungry with something to prove, players who are easily injury prone and players who don't fit the system.

Made me laugh when Stoke were bigging up the proposals to improve Clayton Wood facilities, honestly I wouldn’t give this set of players the time of day let alone a plusher training environment.
There’s something seriously wrong at this club and yet again it’s junior overseeing the whole shit show.

We have a history of being a holiday camp . Go back to the waddo years . I remember Johnnie Bryne ( West Ham ) turned down a transfer to Stoke. He later said it was the biggest mistake he made as we were a cushy number . Only TP made them run up hills. Then Hughes developed the current holiday camp and it’s continuing. Players arriving for the match with mobiles at hand etc etc etc

From memory, the Leeds players were made to do a lot of community visits and engagement to help them connect with supporters. The other half worked at the club in the Hughes years, and it was made perfectly clear to everyone the players weren’t to be bothered in anyway. There was little expectation to get them involved in anything community wise other than the bare minimum. And anything you could get you were lucky to have. No visits to the training ground. No pictures. And this was all sent through Hughes’ lad who was the player liaison officer. The general apathy has continued, it’s well documented by Crouch, Shawcross, Glen Johnson and others that the attitude towards the club, owners, fans as a whole was/is poor. I’ve said it before but I’d like the players to get off their arse and just go have a walk up to Heron Cross and Fenton, through the back streets and see what life is like for the kids in this city. Away from Altrincham and Wilmslow. I lack of graft over successive years is bizarre. How and why we always seem to lack intensity and intent in how we play despite changing everything is a real mystery. “Little old stoke” looms large still in my opinion

For the first time in many years, I don’t blame the players, at least for the most part.
This shambles is entirely on the manager.

This post sums it up. I thought the manager should be given time as lack of graft, discipline and intensity has been the problem for many years. But taking holidays over the international break, the manager daring to show up with a suntan, and then overseeing 3 defeats against poor opposition is unacceptable and shows that nothing has changed. There will be the odd revival when we string a few decent performances together but the slow painful decline continues under this manager.

The fact Alex spent the break sunning it up abroad when we were up shit creek whilst our rivals were working hard on the training ground shows you the same attitude is alive and kicking at Stoke city football club. The only thing which has actually improved in recent years is the social media content/interaction.

Yesterday just about summed up our club. Complacent, lazy and arrogant players. An interesting contrast: Max 9 points (5 goals) in the 3 games we weren’t expecting to win in October* 2 points out of 15 (just 3 goals) in the 5 games since, which were regarded as less of a challenge… *Just realised… no wins since October!

They can't turn Clayton Woods into a prison camp... especially when they're trying to persuade new players to come to replace the supposedly terrible ones we have now.
If you want them to work harder you have to make it worthwhile... Like Bielsa improving bang average players and making their careers last longer... You can't just scream at ours and demand they run a few miles around Trentham and Trent Vale every day. Players just won't accept that, and we're in no place to go to war with a few professionals who know their rights.
It's why Roy Keane hasn't been in management for over a decade, that stuff doesn't really work now unless the manager doing it is a skillfull one and/or the players want to sign up to it.

Half hour walk around Fenton, or Bentilee and then in their cars and off home, collecting their pay packets at the end of the month. I mean many of them are only here for the season, or two at best. I mean many of our players probably grew up in families earning less than the average SOT resident.
