where will it put us? In the exact same position that Jones and O’Neil found us in. We will here talk off the new manager needs time, maybe two transfer windows to bring his own players in. Meanwhile the backroom staff has another mass overhaul, costing the club god knows how much. If he doesn't hit the ground running the knives will be out straight away. The best i hoped for this season was a top 10 finish, any suggestion of the playoffs was always far fetched. We need to ride it out, players coming back into fitness will help, with hopefully some additions in January. On a side note Hoever needs fucking off back to Wolves asap. Absolutely shite!!! Exactly which players coming back into fitness do you expect will make a significant improvement to us? Also, the fact that a change in manager may result in significant costs to overhaul backroom staff is more indicative of a failure in structure, rather than a reason to keep a failing manager. That’s one the board need to own and pay for, rather than be an excuse to implement change. Maybe if they got a sound structure in place then the prospect of changing managers may not appear so costly.

For all the work he seems to do with the players, would anyone even notice if we sacked him and didn’t bother to replace him. Just stick a cardboard cut out of Gollum with his hands in his pockets on the touchline People might get suspicious when the cut out improves us though and makes intelligent substitutions

I hate to say it but I’m past fucking caring, I’ve had the stuffing kicked out of me. I have never felt so disconnected from a Stoke team like I am with this bunch of shithouses. Does a single one of them give a fuck?

We need to ride it out, players coming back into fitness will help, with hopefully some additions in January. On a side note Hoever needs fucking off back to Wolves asap. Absolutely shite!!! Difference is that MON came in and performed miracles considering where we were at that time, looking dead certs for relegation and hamstrung by FFP and having an over-bloated squad full of mercenaries, over hyped names and journeymen who were not good enough. Yes, he lost his way towards the end, but, arguably wasn't given the opportunity that Spud had to rebuild a squad in his own image - having to rely on kids and plodders looking for one last pay-day. AN barely kept us up last season, only thanks to that great run in March where for a few weeks we actually looked like a good side, and Reading having a points deduction which condemned them in the end. Other than that, with one or 2 exceptions (home to Rotherham and Away to Middlesbrough) we have looked turgid, without the ability for the most part to grind out results. There seems to be no change to the same ineffective one dimension slow paced playing style to last season, even though we don't have the movement off the ball or the technical ability on it to be able to build effectively from the back. Our shape behind the ball is awful too - we sit off teams and continually fail to close down space effectively, forcing us to be pinned back and, on the occasions we win the ball back, we give it away lazily in dangerous areas and lack the composure to break up play or relieve pressure effectively. A few stats 15 home league defeats out of 29 Failed to score in 13 of our last 25 league games 18 wins in 58 league games - drawn 13, lost 27 Haven't won a single home game after conceding first. As for Nutty Nathan, we should never have dithered - it was eye bleedingly obvious he was out of his depth after 4-5 games of that season (a series of unconvincing draws and a flukey win over Leeds led most of us to give him the benefit of the doubt the previous season) and was concerning we persisted for so long, even when the dithering played a not-insignificant role in our relegation in the first place. The worry now is that those upstairs have still not learnt their lesson, will dither on until the point of no return and will then make another awful decision in who to replace him, and will dither again with the next manager too.

By we do you mean John Coates? I can understand that mentality because it's yet again another nail in his coffin. With every failure he's showing he has literally no gravitas in running a professional football club. It's been one failure after another since appointing Lambert to save our PL skin. He must be feeling the pressure of it all and if he isn't, he fucking well should be. Surely the family step in soon and relinquish his control of the club or at least the football decision making? They need to hold their hands up, admit they need help and appoint someone to run the club for them ASAP.

So is repeatedly doing the same thing, especially with such a fickle fucking fan base Fickle fan base! We must be the most underachieving club in the country. Our record since relegation is a disgrace. The fans have been brilliant. We really havn’t, but we aren't alone. Its football fans in general, many of whom want and crave instant success. Am i happy with how things have gone since we were relegated? No of course not and im not particularly happy sat here writing this now. I do feel however that our club needs a period of stability. Even if that means we underachieve again this season. Although underachieving in itself is dependant on an individuals expectations. For me a good season would be top 10 finish, anything from 10th-16th i would take as no one can argue that this is not a season of transition. Anything below 16th and we’ve regressed.

Many fans struggle with the fact that it is virtually impossible to recruit as many bad Managers as Stoke have done. They think we should give them time based on the fact that one of them will come good. I would say to them. Where are our previous Managers now? All, without exception have disappeared into obscurity. So yes it is possible and we have recruited many bad Managers. We have been making players and Managers worse over the last 7 years. There is something deeply wrong at this club. We have zero capability to improve people.

I reckon that when he is gone, the board will only offer maximum two year contracts to avoid getting their fingers burned. This will see us eventually get a half decent manager at some point who will then be snaffled up for peanuts by another club…..it’s just sooo predictable.

Junho looked good centrally and hopefully Haskabanovic can make an impact as i think he’s looked decent in spells. We havnt really been able to field a settled side because of injuries.

No matter what anyone on here or at the ground on a matchday says, he's not going anywhere at the moment. JC has given him Carte Blanche to rip everything up and start again and leave him to it. He'll believe Neil should be given time to do it. In fact, he'll no doubt have more funds to spend on some more cultural architects in January. There's none so blind as they that cannot see.
I'm certainly not defending AN in any shape or form but unless we are really in the shit/bottom three, he'll be here until the end of the season. We'll win a few (see Sunderland, Leeds, Boro) then churn out some appalling shit (see Hull, Blackburn, Preston) and end up midtable at best.
It pains me to see what we have become in the last 6-7 years, no matter who the manager is.

I think if this manager fails then we need to take a good luck at the club and the entire setup. For those that want AN out - be careful what you wish for because the Coates family will employ yet another dour British no-hoper who we will possibly have to google to know who he is. Their xenophobia is cutting out 90% of the market for a decent manager and costing us time and time again - we have looked more likely to drop to tier 3 yet again under their guidance than finishing top half or pushing for play-offs.

I don’t know if I’m fickle or the last two games would throw anyone into the Neil out camp, but I think I’d be talking to anyone decent who’s available. I think maybe Eustace but that’s based on a relatively short spell at Birmingham, although he did well. I’d steer clear of the Wilder’s etc as that’d be another disaster in my opinion. No change guarantees anything but 7 conceded in 2 and another false dawn, probably proves this is just not the job for Neil. I’ve tried to stay positive and wanted him and this squad to work, but it just doesn’t look like he’ll ever get us close to where we want to be. What a fucking awful 6/7 years this has been for Stoke. Relegated and not threatened to do anything at all to rectify it. Not even a sniff of a play off push and a scarily close battle with relegation. I can’t even be arsed to think about this weekend or beyond now. You change your mind every fortnight.

The art is to sack him but then the board have to research the right man to come in and successfully coach/manage what is available to him, along with listening to what the new candidate would need (realistically) in January to tweak it and better us. John Coates wouldn’t be able to do this though, I’d bet my house on it to be another failure.

You dont think a top 10 finish would be a good season? I dont expect that, i didnt before a ball was kicked, but that would be the benchmark for a good season personally. Never in a million years did i think we would be in with a shout at the playoffs. The fans have been awful and i’ll include myself in that. To often we turn up and expect to be entertained, but do little to create any sort of atmosphere. I completely understand as the last few years have sucked the enjoyment out matchdays for so many. On the whole i think far to many have completely unrealistic expectations and haven't come to terms with the fact that we are a midtable at best, championship club.

I’d be quite happy to give him bit more time if he wasn’t fucking dripping in arrogance in every presser he does.
He’s honestly worse than Rowett with some of the shit he comes out with in them.
Whatever, they bet the house on him and completely bent over backwards to give him the setup he wanted again. They’ll do exactly the same with the next guy whenever they stop scratching their arses.
Say what you will about MON but I never really got the impression he was anything but hurt when we lost, this guy on the other hand just refuses to take accountability whilst putting on this “you are lucky to have me” attitude. Absolutely done with it.
79 points in 64 games, good for about 55 points a season. Going nowhere fast.

I think I’ve been fairly consistently behind Neil this season maybe with the odd wobble because I thought it would take time for the new approach and squad to work. And because I don’t want to see a constant change that gets us nowhere, and try to stay behind the manager… but this endless cycle of being good, then shit proves that he’s probably not the man. To go from 5 undefeated to 7 conceded in 2 games, it’s just chalk and cheese and it can’t really continue, can it? Two weeks ago I was confident we’d have a decent season, now I think we’ll struggle to get above where we are. I said in a tongue in cheek way that we’d be utterly wank after the international break and not pick up many points when we have plenty of winnable games and that does actually seem to be closer to the truth than any of us wanted. To be fair, it’s not just Neil who has had this problem. Everyone since relegation has us thinking a corner has been turned and a week later we’re back where we were or worse.

I never wanted Neil in the first place and I have spoken no support whatsoever for him. But Stoke can't sack him, because he very recently had a by scfc standards long unbeaten run that even included consecutive clean shets, and because he recently signed 18 players to play for him. If he suddenly was let go, some/most/not all of those players would lose direction and motivation, as we have seen when Rowett signed 9 players to play for him, and I can't remember how many O'Neill signed but they certainly didn't stick around very long.
