Not one player appeared to be clear of their role in the team. There is no discernible pattern of play in attack or defence; as an example of this, one of our CB's regularly charges into midfield to join in pressing the ball while the other drops 10 yards behind his full backs. The players look like they met each other for first time, half an hour before the game, on the carpark. I don't expect us to "run riot over everyone" but I also don't expect our players to get worse the longer the stay at the club. Coming out I heard someone saying that at least it wasn't as bad as Mick Mills' time. I'm not so sure. I think it's slightly better than Nathan Jones. That’s being kind. It looked like they met in the tunnel.

I think we do have the players to be a top side, but we don't have a manager who knows how to use them properly. It was apparent after 15 minutes yesterday that things were not going to improve yet it took another hour for AN to realise it. Seems to be an unwritten rule that you only get the manager job here if you make subs on 75 minutes or later. If you don't then you don't get the job.

The unbeaten few games was great but yet again another false dawn. We also rode our luck within those games.
The problem was that we no threat up front. That front 3 was one of the worst selected since relegation. Voles and Ince were more of a threat- fact.
I can think of one real chance in the game we had. We just didn’t have the guile or imagination to break them down.
We are beaten as soon as we go behind which is, frankly, becoming so routine folk are getting fed up of it.
Just play your best players in a formation that fits them. Anyone could put a lot of effort in training- but if they’ve not got the quality then they shouldn’t be on the pitch.
Poor junho was so obviously out of position and should be playing as a 10.
I just don’t know where we go from here.
No real striker at the club STILL after all this time. Wesley is fucking useless- maee appears so too and is more of a floaty forward.
Fact is- the last few before this were yet another Alex Neil false dawn. It’s been pathetic and he’s had a fair crack.
This isn’t a reactionary post to a 3 -0 home defeat either. It’s based upon his whole time here. We are worse under him. Fact.
I also question the quality of the hoardes of players he’s bought in. Some real abject shite.
John Coates also, very obviously, hasn’t a fucking clue what he’s doing.

He said something about their keeper making a good save. Fuck knows when that was. Maybe it was after I walked out on 84 minutes. Just thought of it mick it was from Johnson in the first half That’s the only save I can remember him saving

Mick Mills had 4 full seasons with us ...10th, 8th, 11th, 13th. He certainly earned the 'Mid table Mick' tag. I would say it was marginally better than what we have seen from JC's team since he put them in place 5 games in to last season.

The problem is if we sack him we might end up getting someone worse and getting sucked into a relegation scrap. He’s probably going to get the full season but if we finish bottom half again he’s got to go, simple as that.

I’m just absolutely staggered how you can have a squad turnover to the magnitude we have and end up with a guy who has scored 3 goals in 50 games up front as a starter.
I don’t understand why he thinks players who only took him as far as mid-table at Preston will somehow take us anywhere beyond mid-table when they’re 2-3 years older.

Good job Pearson was there to be honest. They ripped through at will first half, he is the last of our issues, had a decent game for me, did his job as a defensive midfielder and rarely wasted a pass. Slow build up, on repeat on repeat on repeat, no urgency whatsoever. Why persevere with Gayle, he shouldn't be any where near this team, Neil is the one who needs a bloody reset!! The quality is there, it just needs sorting!! And gave away a goal and the ball constantly He was dire He lost possession ten yards out of their box, there was a whole 2/3 of a pitch to defend that ball against one man and they failed. Should have dealt with it.

I don’t understand why he thinks players who only took him as far as mid-table at Preston will somehow take us anywhere beyond mid-table when they’re 2-3 years older. I can see why he thought both would help us, and they still can, but in Johnson’s case he was a deep lying playmaker type with a bit of license to roam. Whenever we played against PNE, he looked to have some real quality and caused us problems. Now Neil has tried to convert him into a pressing number 10 kind of role higher up the pitch which is making him look rubbish. In this system, he either plays as part of the deeper 2 or not at all, but he started despite having probably only got back on late Thursday/Friday, which tells you everything. Why does every manager we’ve had (and this even goes back to Hughes and Pulis) make batshit decisions that are so obvious to supporters? Make it stop! We have two winnable games in the next week now. Is he in danger if we lose either or both of them? I’m still on board with Neil overall for now, but I know loads would have him gone now. I’m not arsed if he went, I just know another reset wouldn’t solve anything.

Went to watch Leek Town, who I now work for.
Felt like a shit Stoke fan at 3pm, but I just don't miss it at all. I feel nothing for the manager and players, and instead I watched 22 lads having a right go and then having a beer after in a bar where every person is seen as a friend, not a consumer.
I've realised there's more to life now than being pissed off all weekend because of SCFC. Call me part time or whatever you want, but after 50 years, 1500 games, and 75 grounds I now get a buzz plotting a nice pub at Prescot Cables away rather than paying £37 to watch us at Coventry.
The manager is an unlikeable, arrogant bullshitter who has turned home matches into a punishment.

The fact that he starts and perseveres with Gayle is a Massive red flag for me. He has lost the plot. He doesn’t know how to maximise our new signings. He is lost. He is gone.

Any comps going? 😉 I went to only my 3rd game this season yesterday (the others 1-0 loss vs Millwall away and 3-0 loss Vs Hull at home) after deciding not to renew my season ticket after an unbroken run of 20+ years. After that shitshow I've decided that I'm fucking done with this directionless haemorrhoid of a football club. I get zero enjoyment from the whole experience and that absolute shower yesterday put paid to any lingering doubt that I might be being hasty/a 'lesser' fan etc by deciding to fuck it all off. Why make such a significant investment emotionally, financially and in terms of time into something that only serves to make you unhappy? Seriously thinking of just picking a non-league side to follow and putting my efforts into that, so why not Leek eh?

I just don’t let it get to me anymore… after losing pretty much every home game last season by 1-0 I think I’ve just got used to the losing feeling rather than letting it ruin my weekend.
Yesterday as the 2nd & 3rd goal went in we all just turned to each other & laughed. It’s shit when thinking about it but so was the performance yesterday.
The midweek games on sky red button are going to be tough this year unless things majorly improve. Rather than sitting down the ground freezing my nuts off whilst watching dull, negative football I think I may opt for a few cans & the warmth of my home.

I genuinely thought i was at a tennis match. The ball was constantly going left to right and right to left across the back. Dont think we even threatened the half way line for 80 minutes of the game. No one was running into space and if they did we didnt have anyone with half a brain to pick them out.
As others have mentioned the fun has been kicked out of us for 5 seasons and it will take something or someone special to bring back the feel good factor. The fortress we had is now as devoid of points as it was when it was first opened all those years ago, and we watched some diabolical football back then under the likes of Little, Kamara and the like.

I fear your comments/thoughts are shared by many. If significant sustainable improvement isn’t forthcoming in a relatively short time there will be a lot who will join the ranks of disaffected supporters. The really sad thing for me is that the club are showing real intent to engage with supporters on all sorts of issues never tackled before under the likes of Moxey and Scholes. Forever optimistic……but struggling

That starting 11 had no goals in it, I said it from the off and was bang on.
Bae is not a winger he’s a 10 and simply has to be played there.
Johnson should only be played in very specific games and even then he probably shouldn’t.
Gayle just needs to retire.
Hoever needs dropping asap.
