Without wishing to sound like a podcaster, our “patterns of play” were a complete disaster. They sat deep but when they broke they did it quickly and knew what they were doing. Our players looked like they hadn’t played together before and it all just looked like we were making it up as it happened. It didn’t look like anybody had any special job or instructions when we were attacking. As usual, give us most of the possession and we conjure up nothing.
I still want to believe that we’re a new-ish squad and that he’ll find a way to make us better, but he can’t seem to make anything last beyond a few weeks. If 4-3-3 is how he wants to play, then the front four have got to be the right players and I’d argue neither of the front 4 today were played in a position they like or thrive in, Leris possibly excepted, but he was crap today.
Neil simply has to adapt to the players he has and play them in their best positions. He then has to drop Hoever and Rose (when he can) and preferably have Dwight Gayle put down to remove the temptation of playing him ever again.
Really, really bad today. Couldn’t really fault the effort I suppose, but the set up, quality and urgency was way short of what is required. He got done again by a coach who knows exactly what he wants. I’m still not sure Neil knows what it he’s looking for from this side, but teams don’t make the play offs playing like that.
Feels very much like back to square one territory but luckily we have a chance on Tuesday to put it right quickly.

Same old problems. Bang average Journeymen, some playing in wrong positions. This squad will be nowhere near the play offs. There are at least 12 teams easily better than us. Don’t be fooled by Leeds / Boro victories. We were fortunate. I am also completely unconvinced by our Manager who believes Gayle, Johnson, Steven’s, Rose are consistent starting 11 material. It’s a fuckin shambles.

Absolute dross. Very few can hold their heads up after that, including the manager. Bonham is shite and a couple of steady games changes nothing. An extra years contract is a joke Hoever was a joke and isn’t as good as Gooch or Junior, both of who are our players Stevens is crap McNally and rose like watching billy smarts circus Pearson pisses me off every week. Gayle 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Leris is as much a forward player as I am. He makes brown look like messi. I thought Johnson was ok but he’s nowhere near the dynamic goal scoring player he was at Preston and burger wasn’t too bad. Junho tried but looked lost at times. I maintain, still, that Neil is an absolute fraud. Took the words right out of my mouth

He bought Bae in today and could have tweaked to a 4-2-3-1 to get the best out of him, but chose not to. He could have changed the shape/formation 2nd half but went for Gooch and Campbell in like for like changes. This was the guy who was bringing on 4 subs at half time and swapping systems 3 times a game at Sunderland……

Fucking awful, a team of statues with no movement whatsoever. You could probably count on one hand the amount of forward passes that were made. You dont need to be the best passer in the world if you have movement in front of you. Is it through instruction or a lack of ability/confidence?, the amount of times one of our centre backs had the ball and simple pass between the lines of opposition players is alls thats needed, but we go side to side and back etc etc. Weve seen this before with different managers and a different set of players so i can only assume its under instruction from management, regardless its absolutely awful football. In contrast Blackburn looked like scoring everytime they came forward.

I’m convinced that Hoever has a must start clause.
He’s been clueless for most of the games.

That was awful. A team of plodders scared to attack their men. Blackburn were quicker sharper, athletic. Lers does he ever take a man on. Gayle finished Johnson finished Hoever fucking awful. All 3 awful last match.
What the fuck must the rest of the squad be thinking watching this lot.
Manager has lost me yoday.

Asked my Blackburn supporting mate what he thought and he thought Bae was our best and most threatening player and he was more worried when Wesley came on.
Seems a fair assessment from the outside

Not one player appeared to be clear of their role in the team. There is no discernible pattern of play in attack or defence; as an example of this, one of our CB's regularly charges into midfield to join in pressing the ball while the other drops 10 yards behind his full backs.
The players look like they met each other for first time, half an hour before the game, on the carpark.
I don't expect us to "run riot over everyone" but I also don't expect our players to get worse the longer the stay at the club.
Coming out I heard someone saying that at least it wasn't as bad as Mick Mills' time. I'm not so sure. I think it's slightly better than Nathan Jones.

We are genuinely gash and we couldn’t hide it today. Imagine paying £100+ to go and watch this shit show at QPR. Oh woe is me🫣🫣

The most successfully coached team, I have seen in the championship was Marco Silva's Fulham at craven cottage in their promotion season... Fulham 4 stoke 0 , I think.
Bursik made 3 or 4 wonder saves and saved a mitrovic penalty, to save us from a deserved hammering.
Every time they attacked they had Carvalho free on an overload or harry Wilson free on an overload or AN Other free on an overload.
Their passing was quick and accurate, but their running off the ball was outstanding. Everything for a reason, well rehearsed slick patterns of play , no wasted energy, real cutting edge.
If Fulham were slick and coached to the Nth degree , then AN's Stoke are the opposite, a bunch of plodders who look like they never rehearsed patterns of play, in their life .
I don't know what AN does on the training ground but it is not Marco Silva effective, it's not Marcelo biesla effective, it's not Daniel farke effective, it's not Kieran McKenna effective ...etc etc
There is more chance of me being sought after by a posse of supermodels, than their is of AN getting us promoted.

We are not going up so we have to focus on bringing through/ getting championship experienced as many youngsters, contracted to us as we can... junior burger bae vidigal lowe . For this reason not sure about Campbell, who wants out , but I guess if he is allowed to cut onto his left foot, then as likely to score as anyone.

It's late November and we're playing a front three that's never played together before. In a league that is all about one thing, having one game plan and sticking to it religiously. The naivety is incredible

It’s easy to point fingers about individual players. But!!!
1. Hand on heart can anyone explain what formation we play, what are individual player roles or overall tactics?
2. One for the stato’s. Over the last 30 years which manager in order has the worst home record per games played?
3. Think deep, be pragmatic who believes were are a decent side who can challenge over a 46 game season to demonstrate real progress?
Personally I’m finding it extremely difficult to support this manager after about 60 competitive first team games

It's no coincidence that as soon as Gayle returned to the side, we stopped scoring and stopped winning.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that Gayle is on target to have even worse goalscoring stats at Stoke than totally unfit , can't be arsed, drink driving druggie and world expert at hiding on a football pitch for 90 minutes, Berahino.
If you are even less effective than a Berahino, deliberately hiding from the game, then you are not fit to wear the shirt.

A performance like that, followed by the managers interview, tells you everything about the lack of ambition at the top of the club. There should be demands, expectations, targets, pressure and it should be felt by manager and players. There's no sense of urgency on the pitch, no desire.
A total lack of respect for the club and the fans is what we see time and again, hence one of the worst home records in the professional leagues since Alex Neil took over

Good job Pearson was there to be honest. They ripped through at will first half, he is the last of our issues, had a decent game for me, did his job as a defensive midfielder and rarely wasted a pass. Slow build up, on repeat on repeat on repeat, no urgency whatsoever. Why persevere with Gayle, he shouldn't be any where near this team, Neil is the one who needs a bloody reset!! The quality is there, it just needs sorting!! And gave away a goal and the ball constantly He was dire
