My son was out shopping yesterday (we live in Dublin), he was wearing a Stoke jersey,a man who was working in the clothes shop saw the jersey and produced a Stoke scarf from under the counter, there followed a 30 minute discussion about all things Stoke and matches both had been at.You don't get that camaraderie at the Man Us or Liverpool.

Back in the early 90's I got off the train with a good friend of mine in Worcester having been to watch the boys, probably at the Hawthorns, shirts on display and chests puffed out. We were striding happily down Forgate Street when a policeman stepped out of a doorway "You two, come here" eye eye we thought, this doesn't sound good, "Now then lads, I've got a shirt just like that in my wardrobe at home, was it a good game??" Didn't always go that well with the boys in blue around those times...

Thought this was going to be an investment opportunity, like bail bonds. Pity, I'd buy Stoke Bonds.

I suppose with the amount of Irish players we've had over the years there will be a few stokies scattered around Dublin here and there 😀

I was collared in the Palace Bar a few weeks ago by a Stoke fan from Swords I remember Richie Blackmore's shop in Dundalk having the Umbro diamond shirt when I was a kid. Made my Dad buy it for me as an early Birthday pressie Bumped into a couple of Stoke fans in Bewleys a few years ago as well

I was in Grand Canaria (playa des ingles)a couple years back looking for a bar to watch the Stoke game. All the bars had the Liverpool game live but no one had the Stoke match on. But then I found this tiny little bar with a Dutch owner wearing his Stoke top with absolute pride. That was the tues or wed and we beet City 2 0 on the sat ( prem) and that was a great day in that bar.

We moved down from Stoke in 91/92. He’s retired now but would’ve been in his early 30s in the years you mention.

I was in Rome around 10 years ago.. just about to walk into St Peter’s when I spotted a bunch of Russian tourists outside listening to a guide.. one young lad was wearing an old Stoke scarf.. being a nosey bugger and despite my Missus protests I wandered over to intervene and see what the score was.. top fella spoke good English and told me he ran the Stoke fan club in Moscow.. he used to come on here and I do wonder what became of him..

I was sitting in a cafe in union square in San Francisco with a stoke shirt on and a Bloke came running up to me shouting we are one up! It was a league cup game and and with the time difference I’d forgotten all about it. Later that week someone shouted up the vale when I was down on fisherman’s wharf and again in the same place years later I met another vale fan from Blythe bridge!!

Ha. It’s always the way when you see a random Stokie - either the missus or the kids grabbing your arm and saying “but you don’t have to go and talk to them”…

I went to the International Space Station once on a research mission and, as you do, I had my Stoke top on under my space suit.
First night there I wander into the kitchen after a long day doing important space stuff (to reheat the vacuum-packed Wright's meat and potato I'd taken with me) when a little Japanese astrobiologist clocks the red and white stripes, saunters over and begins telling me what a massive Stoke fan he is as a result of Lewis Buxton being his hero as a child.
It's amazing where you find yourself bumping into other Stoke fans isn't it?

You worked at the club and seem to have info about past events that would require a senior position at the club

We were in our early 20’s and he didn’t seem too much older than us at the time. I wish him well. It made a good memory for us. Ask him if he remembers. Funny what sticks in your mind some times.

I for one would look forward to an 'Any Stoke bars on the International Space Station?' thread. That would sit nicely alongside my 'Any Stoke bars on the Moon?' thread from a while back, which didn't fare too well. Parody might as well be a French public holiday, it seems.
