Was there but was this the replay of the 3rd round that was after the 1-1 at white hart lane? It was delayed because of the butler street roof blowing off.

Went that game, it was played on FA cup 4th round day due to the stand blowing down
We played Man City at home a few days later in the 4th round and won with a Greenhoff diving header up at the Stoke end
Second division Sunderland eventually saw us off

This was the replay to the game i put on a different thread about getting my nose broke as a 14 yr old at there ground. They were in the Boothen before the game and got battered. After the game they were battered at the exit gate on the butler side of the ground

I was 13 and Spurs was my 2nd away game (Old Trafford West Ham 3-2 semi replay the 1st ) went on the train with some friends of my parents who used to take me to home games and can remember being dragged into a Woolworths on the walk back to the station to get out of the way of the fighting outside, I thought at the time I'm never going to another away game (Fooling myself seen Stoke at 70 plus grounds since) remember waiting for the Longton bus in Stoke after school on the Monday and being gutted when one of the Sentinel billboards said roof had blown off, went replay and Man City win and only other memory was of what seemed like hundreds of Sunderland fans in the Butler Street paddock below where I had a season ticket in Butler St seats

He did mate a minute after Smiths equaliser Had we beaten Sunderland we’d of played third division Crystal Palace at home in the QFs Only Stoke eh That replay was a pivotal point. A longer cup run would've bought more money in and the bank wouldn't have been demanding loan money back. So we might not have had to do the 76/77 firesale. The 75/76 FA Cup was a wasted opportunity.

Certainly was Joe After dismissing Tottenham and Man City we had 2nd division Sunderland at home then had we seen them off it would of been 3rd division Crystal Palace at home in QFs then 2nd division Southampton in the SF for a trip to Wembley Like I put above …only Stoke eh

I went to the league game same season. Went in Park Lane Stand, not for the faint hearted. We were in the Park Lane seats at the Cup Tie and as you say .. Not for the faint hearted! Can remember looking down to the terracing and seeing Tony Gray (and friends) having cordial conversations with the locals ... Not!

I was only in my mid-teens when I went to Spurs and was stupidly wearing a bright red jumper which I quickly carefully "lost" as soon as we left the ground after the game. It was a bit nervy to say the least making our way back up to where the coaches were parked. My mum went mad when I got home as the jumper had been a Christmas present.
I remember we stood in the end that Mahoney scored, to the right of the goal (as we looked at it) midway between the goal and corner flag.

I sat or stood with the locals . Like anywhere you had to be aware of how you behaved but I had no trouble and found people would be interested to find out about your players and to talk about theirs. I think things changed a lot in the 70´s. Two standout memories for me are seeing the wonderful Jimmy Greaves in his prime at White Hart Lane ( he scored against us !!) and going to an Arsenal-Stoke reserve game when the out of favour George Eastham was playing for them. We lost 5-2, George scored all five for them and we signed him the week , or very shortly, after.
