Not many more at that Leeds game. 6-7000 games were typical that early season. Amazing to see crowds of 4000 in the games away to Boro, Fulham, Oldham, Millwall and Crystal Palace! 2813 at Carlisle in a 3-0 defeat!… I wonder if that’s the lowest attendance for a Stoke league game away, at least in the modern era? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985–86_Stoke_City_F.C._season

Very Emotional goal that was Was in the seats behind the goal for some reason (was it chucking it down?) Always been on that weird side terrace before Strange ground, did the pitch slope as well? Typical Stigger goal £50k he cost , what a fantastic signing

Howling rain from what I remember in the open away end. Side of the pitch was standing. Behind goal was seating. Brilliant Memories of that day.

Major recession and all that. Definitely but also Football Violence, the fences, really shit grounds (many untouched for many decades) and by 1985 saw the Bradford fire and Heysel football although still cheap was thoroughly put of fashion It's amazing that clubs didn't go to the wall or at least go semi pro
