I love FM at times.
Coming into the final days of a transfer window & a club come in for one of my strikers, old fella who wasn't really playing much, was on a big wage & was out-of-contract at the end of the season, offered me a couple of million for him, I only play one upfront & had two other natural strikers & two attacking wide players who could fill in uptop in an emergency, so I accepted.
One of my star defenders come barging into my office dragging half the team with him to start kicking off about the state of our striker options. I say to not worry as there's a couple of days of the window left & I'll be sorting it. Had a target in mind but it fell through as the selling club couldn't find a replacement in time, so I had to rush through a last minute loan signing of a natural striker to get me back to where we were. Star defender still wasn't happy but 'cos it was so late in the window he was happy to wait & see how we faired by the end of the January window.
January window comes along & I sign the fella I tried to sign last time. Star defender still isn't happy. I decide to bring forward the signing of another striker I was going to get the following summer as this would surely make him happy. Nope. I decide to bring in another loan signing, I didn't really want him but he was decent & it was a good deal & would surely finally make my defender happy. I also signed another lad I was planning to get in the summer early, a wide player who can also play upfront.
January window ends, I've now got something daft like fucking nineteen different players who can play in my lone striker role, the first signing we made this month wins POTM for scoring four goals in four games, we're five points clear at the top of the league, into the knockout rounds of the Champions league... Star defender comes back into my office & says he's furious I haven't addressed the striker situation & he's now seriously considering his future.

I’ve just had the same problem DC, with a keeper. Got Oblak who is 3 star (it’s 2028) and a reserve keeper at 2 star, so I signed Restes for overpriced January window price of £50m who is 3.5 star and still not happy. I seldom bother listening so I don’t know why I did this time.

The whole player interaction and promises thing is always a bit suspect. I’ve had players submit transfer requests and saying they can’t work for me any longer because I’ve praised them for winning player of the month!

It needs removing from the game, how often in real life would you have Ben Wilmot for instance barging in to the managers office saying we need a striker or 6.
It just doesn't happen and adds nothing to the game but frustration.

I like the idea of having to deal with the aftermath of a player going on the piss and missing training, or handling a leaked story about a booze filled orgy, than what they currently have. At least they could have a bit of fun with it rather than just pissing their players off.

What's the crack with the phone version being through Netflix or something?
Had the 21 version on my phone and thrashed it through lockdown like was in my teens again. Took Dundee United to a treble treble and semi finals of the Champions League along with a Europa league title. Chris Mochrie came through the youth academy and was an absolute beast averaging about 8 a game in a 3 midfield - assists and goals galore even though it wasn't his natural position in comparison to CAM where he was loads less effective. Offers came in for him but he wouldn't move nor would he sign a new deal so instead of getting £25m for him he fucked off AC Milan for free in the summer and really pissed me off as Billy Gilmour wanted transfer listed off the back of it so was banging out 6's a game. Got him back a few seasons on but barely played him out of spite.
Roll on 2024 and he's presenting the wee one's team with their end of year trophies where they could get a photo - bizarrely felt an element of star struck and annoyance despite it being a computer game rather than real life obviously.

Yeah if you have a netflix account it's now the only way to play the FM mobile game. Must be on its last legs the mobile version, sadly. Interestingly Mochie found his way to SCFC in FM23.

Currently 2nd in my 1st season with Stoke after 41 games. Norwich are runaway leaders 10 points in front of me. Leicester and Leeds right behind me, only 2 points separate us.
Just got a good 4-2 win over Ipswich after Coventry ended my 18 game unbeaten run with a 3-0 demolition at the Bet365, then Wilmot sent off after 8 mins led to me being 4-0 down to Blackburn before a last 10 min surge got me to 4-3 before Blackburn sealed it in the last min 5-3.
Mmaee and Campbell banging the goals in. Lowe has recently broken in the team, scoring 7 (2 past Ipswich) Jojic has been great with Bae. Signed a left back, 2 centre halves and a centre mid(on loan at Bradford). Sent McNally back. Rest of team is the same.

You know that 'star defender' who was kicking off about me not solving our striker problem despite me signing 17,957 strikers? Well he's back at it! This time he is moaning 'cos I'm not playing him often enough (He only ever plays half a season anyway due to him always being either injured or banned). Anyroad, he was whinging about play time so I promised I'd play him more, with just 7 days left on the promise he was "delighted with the amount of playing time he's getting". In those remaining 7 days we played twice, I started him & left him on the pitch in both games. After the 7 days were over he comes barging in my office with 'abysmal' morale 'cos I'd failed to live up to my promise of giving him more playing time & he has now handed in a transfer request.... Which I'm not bothered about 'cos he's getting on in age a bit & is on a massive wage, but it's so fucking daft how this shit can fuck up your teams morale.
... Oh, I had another guy earlier in the season moaning about playing time, came barging in my office & said he wanted to be loaned out, I agreed to sort it. Got him a loan in the Netherlands, HE rejected it, got him a loan in Portugal, HE rejected it, got him a loan in Germany, HE rejected it. Transfer window shuts & he comes barging back in the office saying it's unacceptable I didn't try to loan him out so he's handing in a transfer request!

I’ve got to the point now where I never make any promises, and if it pisses them off then I transfer list them. Doesn’t matter how good they are, if they mess the morale of the team up, you’re screwed. I had similar to you, people declining loans and transfers after demanding moves, then saying I hadn’t lived up to my promise. I also had someone complain the middle of closed season, whilst he was on holiday, that he was starting enough games. Nobody was, cus there weren’t any!

I’ve imported my 23 save into 24 and have been cracking on. Just had the most enjoyable moment in years. I’ve had Endrick the Brazilian wonder kid for five years got two years left on his contract and the shit have come sniffing. He’s announced to the press though he won’t be leaving Stoke though as they can’t offer him the standard of football he wants to be playing at 😂😂😂. I now love the guy and if he wants a new contract at £250k a week he will get it just for that statement.

I’m having a rather surprising career with Buxton.
NLN - 1st NL - 7th (won play-offs and FA Trophy) L2 - 1st L1 - 3rd (won play-offs) C - 2nd PL - 20th C - 1st
It’s a challenge improving the club’s reputation. In my first PL season I was still only attracting L1 players at best as we were playing in a 5750 capacity stadium of which only 2600 was seated! There’s a new 11,000 stadium now, but after one season it’s being expanded to 18,000 so we’ve moved to Bramall Lane for the 2nd PL season. Club rep is still only 3 stars but managing to attract a few Champ players. Junho and Tezgel in the starting 11.

Back with Stoke after the new update. The game seems a bit more difficult since.
One thing that hasn’t changed for me though is that every season in the PL I seem to play the ‘Big 6’ in clusters. I’m about to play all six in a row and this seems to happen quite often, or at least the six within 7 fixtures. Is this the case for anyone else?

Same as you, struggled to attract decent players in the summer transfer window. Managed to go up with some decent young PL standard players, but central defence is an issue. Signed a Hungarian CB a few days too early, didn’t have a spare ESC slot so now he can’t play for 3 months! Managed to sign a good Brazilian striker and an 18 year old Mexican who somehow managed to get a permit. Three games in and I’m mid-table. Lost to Man City and Arsenal but hammered Fulham 6-1 in our only home game. Anyone else finding physical traits work well this year? I’ve gone for the classic pace and power combo up top. A 6ft 7in brick shithouse and a rapid strike partner.

Yes mate the injuries have been a nightmare in FM24. Yes of course injuries happen but there's never a time when I haven't got three to four key players out and I'm not playing a high intensity tactic. Don't get me started on goalkeeper injuries which in real life don't happen that often but in game they seem to happen every month.
