Christ 650k p/w that's rough. 150k less than what I got in Your World mode and I barely made it through... It gets worse than that... All the Sky money you get has been gobbled up by debt & we're still over £10m in the red. And that 650k p/w has gone, not really due to anything I've done but because the previous regime decided that pretty much everyone at the club would get a 100% wage increase after promotion! I've somehow cobbled together a team made up of players who're either over 33 or under 21 from Portugal & South America. I've had to sell Mmaee just to try & bring some kind of money into the club & now most of the team are pissed off with me, I'm nodoubt going have the rest of them pissed off when I sell Campbell to try & generate some more money. Things are going well

Well, things are going better than expected so far. I didn't end up selling Campbell (I'll come to that later!) but did sell Leris for £25m & Laurent for £15m. I asked the board if we could have a feeder club I could loan some of my youth players out to & was delighted to see one of the recommended clubs they had was Burton (Due to them using St.George's Park they have fantastic training & youth facilities). I've had a big change around in my staff aswell with new people as DoF, Technical Director & Chief Scout, got myself a South Korean physio to give Junho someone to talk to, Gary McAllister is my new Assistant Manager and I've got Dennis Bergkamp & Zlatan Ibrahimovic on my coaching staff!
On the pitch we've started alright, only 5 games in which has seen us draw 3 (Fulham & Sunderland away, Man Utd at home) and win 2 (Burnley away 4-0 & West Ham at home 2-1). Ipswich & Wolves up next before a brutal run of Arsenal, Man City & Chelsea.
Bizarre series of events with Campbell. I asked his agent if anyone was interested in taking him, either via transfer or loan, but he said there was no interest. A day later Campbell comes into my office saying he's pissed off with not playing & wants to go out on loan, so I agreed. Some club from Portugal come in for him, I accept, a week passes by & then Campbell rejects the offer. We go into the last week of the transfer window & an Italian club make a loan offer for him, so again I accept it, again Campbell waits a week & then rejects the offer. The transfer window closes & Campbell comes barging into my office again demanding to be transfer listed 'cos I'd failed to loan him out!!!

The transfer window closes & Campbell comes barging into my office again demanding to be transfer listed 'cos I'd failed to loan him out!!! I cleared Campbell off to Norwich on my save where he was promoted with them. I got in Elliot Anderson on loan from Newcastle and ended up finishing ninth just outside the playoffs first season. Second season I am half way through and I'm sitting in second place at new year. I sold Laurent to Swansea and a number of other players including Big Wes who went abroad for eleven mill. I've bought in eidur Gudjohnsons son up front who is absolute quality who my scouts found. I have praet(Leicester I think) and burger(or Ramon enriquez from Málaga and Luke cundle from wolves) in midfield with Pearson sitting behind. I loaned Haks again on left side and have a right winger Lahdo who is really good. My centre back pair are wilmot and Lascelles from the toon who are pretty solid. My right wing back is a newgen called Jimmy Stewart came through academy intake and is brilliant with tchamadu as back up. My left back is Jamal Lewis who was a free agent and I have a young lad as backup who is also great from academy but his name escapes me. My backup strikers are Lowe who is amazing and scored thirty five goals on loan in league one last season and Mmaee who gets the odd game. In goals I have Australian keeper Mitchell langerak who is great with okonkwo as backup from arsenal. I'm really impressed by the positional play this year. It's like night and day from last year's match engine. One thing I'm really not impressed by is how easy the squad can turn against you for the smallest of things which completely fucks moral up. All in all though it's quality and I'm really happy with the game. The set pieces are so much better now you don't have to fiddle with everything because you have made one sub. I did a Tottenham beta save for YouTube aswell which I quite enjoyed and I'll do this stoke one before jumping into some rebuilds.

Finally managed to get Warrington promoted to the Vanarama National in my third season. I swear the game was trying to screw me over. I missed out on automatic by one point, and my 35 goal striker got injured on the last game, forcing me to play a 36 year old I was shipping out at the end of the season. Got to the final against Oxford and we won 4-1, with him scoring all 4 goals. Hit continue and the game crashed as an update was due on game pass. Played the final again and got battered, but with the score at 0-0 a highlight popped up in the 95th minute and I thought, ‘here we go’. But, my OAP target man rose like a salmon from about 8 yards out and powered a header home….justice.
Currently sitting top of the National league with 10 points after 4 games 👍🏻

Just finished my first season. Sacked and replaced every staff bar Ricky Martin who is rated reasonably well for a Champ club. Finished with 97 points, usually plenty enough for automatic but only finished 5th. Beat Dirty Leeds in extra time at Wembley after conceding an equaliser in the 96th minute. Now with five loanees returning (got Toffolo from Forest to provide competition at left back), and several out of contract, it’s like the summer just gone with the rebuild.
Anyway, for others who’ve used Stoke, have the owners put two lots of £4m into the club towards the end of the season to stop the club going into receivership?

Late to the party on this one so I downloaded a tactic and have ran away with the league with record points and goals as well as runner up in the fa cup to Chelsea 😵. Had only signed a bargain keeper and striker in the summer keeper was a great understudy and Perez the striker from Columbia bagged 20 goals. So the fun starts now signed Casteels, Jokic, Meunière and Alonso on free transfers and sold Wesley for 2.5mil to Bournemouth. Just turned down a 30mil bid from palace for Campbell will accept it if I can get £35mil to invest on central defenders.

Bit late to the party myself but went a similar route in downloading a tactic. I struggled with injuries quite a bit but signed a young lb from Southampton on loan (larios) with option to buy. He was really good and bought him after promotion. Added Ronnie Edwards, McNally (permanent) and a tb from Portland. Got a right winger from Bournemouth and AM from Burnley both on loan. Not really sold anybody for decent money yet but Sheff Weds want to give me 22 mill for Pearson but he doesn’t want to go. Binned off quite a few of the squad at the end of the season and got rid of clark and Steven’s in the January before.

Gone with a 424 attacking so far it’s been good handed out two thumpings but got thumped twice myself so I’m no troubled about getting relegated. Moving players on has been hard though pearsons gone for £18m to Valencia but my squads unbalanced. Signed the Brazilian Malcolm and zidanes some Theo who I nearly always sign for some reason as he’s always done a job for me. But CM is weak and so is CD I have signed McNally on a permanent and Harwood bellis not been on for nearly a week so I’m hoping crack on this weekend.

I think Pearson was worth about 4mill before I got promoted his value is now 22mill. That does feel very unrealistic.

I think Pearson was worth about 4mill before I got promoted his value is now 22mill. That does feel very unrealistic. I watched a YouTube video on it previously and it said the player value is determined by the league reputation (and similarly the rep of the purchasing team’s league). This explains how the valuations go up massively when a team reaches the prem. on the flip side, it also explains why a youth player for a prem team is valued in the millions and then suddenly they’re worth bugger all when you sign them at the end of the contract whilst you’re in a lower league.

Sim the game 25 years in the future and see if I can revivd a club that used to be great.
Knowing my luck it will still be the status quo.

My annual top the hall of fame challenge is a taking much longer this year. Guardiola has moved on from Man City where he won more trophies to PSG where he wins the French ones every year.
On a very unimportant note, does anybody’s desktop shortcut show 23 rather than 24?

Anyone had a sniff of a board takeover? I’m in 2038 and not even a rumour. FMs for the last few years I’ve usually had a buy-out after one or two seasons. Pretty sure I did in one of my saves, didn't stick it out long enough for it to actually happen though. I'm really struggling to find a save I stick to. I usually spend the first half of the season messing around in a few different saves & then by this time of year I usually settle upon my 'proper' save, nothing is taking my fancy this year though for some reason. Usually find myself in Italy, having done saves with Milan, Inter, Juve, Lazio, Parma & Atalanta over the years, can't seem to find anyone there this time round though. I thought Fiorentina looked perfect, pretty decent team already in place, suit the style & formation I like to play, would be nice to lead them to the title (Especially with an Argentinian striker!) Tried to play with them twice but both times I've lost interest & quit a few games into the season. Tried in Spain with Valencia & Sociedad, both got exciting teams & the challenge of knocking the big two off their pearch, but again I just couldn't get settled into either save. Tried going over the border into Portugal with Benfica, thought it would be fun to try & take them back to the top of Europe but it becomes a bit boring domestically when you've only got two other teams who can give you a game. Germany & France always seem like good options but I can never settle on which team to use to knock Bayern/PSG off the top. Fuck knows, I might do the unthinkable & manage Arsenal, atleast the other English clubs throwing money around should give some competition, but I hate the stupid 'work permit' shit when managing here.

I stick with Stoke until I’m top of the HoF, but it seems impossible this time with Guardiola at PSG winning their domestic treble every year. My other careers are usually a tour of Europe’s top leagues, starting in either Netherlands or Portugal, an England national team one (which seems more fun if you buy the editor to ensure you don’t get the sack to make it more long term) and a NL North/South team and taking them as far as I can. Driving me mad that Coates won’t build a new stadium, we’ve been selling out the 60,000 stadium limit for years now, we want an 85,000 Neil Baldwin Stadium now!

Driving me mad that Coates won’t build a new stadium, we’ve been selling out the 60,000 stadium limit for years now, we want an 85,000 Neil Baldwin Stadium now! I always use Stoke as my first save on any FM as it's easier to get used to any new features when you already know all the players & staff & what not, can never seem to do a 'proper' save with us though, always end up quiting & starting a new save (Usually in Italy). I could never get into any of the other options you mention there, well, the smaller team from down the leagues was something I used to enjoy doing back when the game was still called CM, I'd play as Hartlepool or Torquay or something but one year something just changed & I've never been able get into doing it since. Tried the national team a couple of times years ago, didn't enjoy either attempt (One as just a national manager where nothing happens for ages at a time, or one where I was at club & country where the country side of it played a massive backseat to the club side). I'll never 'get' how people can do 'journeyman' saves, I've tried a couple of times & everytime the instant I leave my first club it just kills the save for me.... Been years since I last tried it though, maybe I should give it another go, would certainly be a change to my usual style of play to just spend whatever I've got & worry about the short term before fucking off somewhere else & doing the same again. Hmm... It's actually got me really intrigued now, I'm so used to playing the game in the same way (Getting in great staff, concentrating on youth, making sure I'm self sufficient etc...) Maybe that complete change of spending money for the 'now', focusing on players for the 'now' etc... and letting the next guy worry about what state I leave them in 'cos I've fucked off somewhere else. Hmm... Might give it a go!

cheadlepotter to add to the post above how do you go about moving clubs? Do you wait untill another club comes in for you, or do you just apply at any club who has a spot available, or do you just resign at some random time & then see what happens? How long do you usually stay at a club? In my mind when thinking about this I'm assuming I can just rock up at a club for one, two years at most & then move on, is that possible? Or do you have to stay somewhere for numerous years & build up a reputation? Can I just bounce around from, say, Feyenoord to Roma to Liverpool to Inter to Lyon, or do you need to have lower divisions added & drop down in club size?

Start - Netherlands, Portugal Then - Italy, Germany Then - Spain, France, England France is awkward because of PSG’s dominance, so it has to go towards the end of you can get in PSG once you’ve established yourself. To avoid having too much data usage, I’d start with Netherlands, Portugal, Italy and Germany. Once I’ve finished the first stage, I close them out and add the rest, and close the second stage once I’ve finished that. I aim to spend at most 2 years at each club, once I’ve won the league and cup in a country I’m done there really and move as soon as I can. I guess if you manage to conquer each of those countries you could finish off as a national team manager. And of course you could start in an even more minor league, but I like to have at least some familiarity with the goings on so avoid it.

I’m plugging away with my Warrington save. Taken them from VLN to League One. As with most FMs, once you reach league two it’s easy to gain a bit of momentum, so I just had back to back promotions and after a few games I’m sitting in the play off positions.
Odd thing about this save is that despite me starting with the lowest skills and badges possible, the owner will not let me go on a coaching course. We’ve had three promotions and every time I ask he declines, giving the reason that he’s afraid I’ll leave if I get better badges. Anyone else come across this problem? I’ve played FM for years and never seen this before.

If I asked in pre-season or during the season, it was a no. If I asked after the end of a season or before pre-season kicks in, it was more than likely a yes. How did you find Lower League Management on FM24? I'm still going on 22 at the minute but once the last update is out in February/March I'll be looking to swap over.

I thought I'd give you an update... I've already failed... And I've already started a new save... And yes, I'm back managing in Italy at Milan... I can't help myself... I blame 1990's Channel 4 & "Gooooooalissimo!" I’ve had to move on from my Hall of Fame career, it got a bit boring in the 2040s! Moved on to my Tour of Europe career, started off with Sporting and it’s going rather well with a 4132 formation, loads of goals.

I had it a fair bit on FM22 and figured out that it was related to when I was asking to go on the course. Yeah, I thought that too but it didn’t make any difference. During the season I got messages saying they couldn’t afford to have me away from the team, then close season saying they couldn’t afford to lose me. I loved the lower leagues. Found the budgets really tight and relied heavily on target men and big lumps in defence to score plenty of set pieces. Found it tougher than once I got into league two. Think I got promoted from VLN in my third year. Have to say I’m really enjoying the match engine this year. I know it’s the last before they change it, but the matches feel much more authentic than previous versions. There’s also a noticeable difference in quality of team moves/execution as you climb the leagues, which is great.

Doesn't feel right. That all sounds promising with the Match Engine and how Lower Leagues work, definitely think I'm getting to a point where it's time to upgrade.

I’ve played all of the FMs and CMs for as long as I can remember. I’d say this is definitely the best FM in my opinion, and they’ve definitely squeezed the most out of the match engine. Think they’re switching to Unity next year so it’ll be interesting to see how that looks. For me, the improved match engine just makes the game feel much more realistic and immersive. I still played on the 2D overhead view with the ball and player circles until a few years ago. I’d say this year is the first time the ball and players actually look natural in the way they move. I’m not too fussed about the potential bug, just never come across in years of playing. If certainly recommend a non-league save though. It can be challenging but also interesting to see how far you can push a club on. I ended up with all four defenders and a striker that were all 6ft 4in + with a 6ft 9in sub striker to eventually get me out of the lowest league 😂
