Could be a very interesting atmosphere in 2 weeks time An early goal for them and I fear the worst for Neil They’ll obviously hammer come what may

Quite poetic I suppose. The club who he deserted to become our manager will be the ones who hammer home the final nail in his coffin. Yep, has a certain symmetry to it and it would be very typical of us…….

A lacklustre performance, a couple of early goals, or a heavy defeat will see AN being given pelters from all sides of the ground. It is not a game I would be looking forward to if I was in his shoes. 😅

For a manager under pressure ( and if he isn't he fucking should be ) the next 3 games look pretty daunting for him.

Yeah think the next two games are massive for Neil’s tenure… if we get 5-6 players back (after the break) I fancy we could be ok …. If not think he may be on borrowed time come bonefire night

Back off a 4-0 home defeat, injuries and suspensions hampering Sunderland. Another home loss to them and it will turn very very sour.

He should be gone before the Sunderland game if the owners had any balls but they will most likely wait till its to late.

Said before a ball was kicked that the first aim was to keep out the bottom 3 by the end of October, given the fixtures and all the new players. Don't think the board will be looking at sacking him - being as though this is his team we might as well give him more time, in November we have some winnable fixtures, hopefully we can hit a bit of form and the players can start gelling and also players coming back from injury.
That said, he did say in the pre match conference that he will never give in - but his body language said otherwise to me. Possibly just peed off with the way it is going and all the injuries.
Got to try and pick something up from the Sunderland game as we have very little chance in the fixture after that against Leeds - needs to keep the score down against Leeds so that the players confidence isn't knocked - I suspect that was what he was trying to do today.
I think if this manager goes then we need to start looking at other aspects of the club and not just sacking another manager and replacing him with another British no hoper - others need to be accountable this time round.
Also, AN complaining about a patched up defence today is a pee take, yet another window where we did not invest in quality or quantity in that area of the park - and like every manager before him, since Pulis, we find ourselves with a patched up defence with square pegs for the umpteenth time - way beyond a joke now

Should have started a left back from the u23's and center back from the u23's instead of players who play in midfield and it's not as if they excel in that position.

The 2 managers we’ve had in my lifetime who emphasised being fitter than the opposition lost the fewest players to muscle injuries. It’s not a coincidence.

Even if we get 5 players back after the break they still need to get back up to speed.

True, but a lot easier than games against Southampton, Leicester & Leeds and a few games against teams struggling like us. Bottom line is that he has to start winning at some point or he will go. I am hoping we are out of the relegation zone by the Jan window and then, for me, a big window for the club. There are glaring areas of concern that have not been addressed for a while now - and the club/manager have to prove they are aware of them and start to do something about it and address them: Not good enough to have a 34 year old who has had limited game time at his former club in the last couple of years as your only viable left sided defender. Only having 3 viable-ish central defenders when we are playing 2 games a week and it is the most physical position on the pitch - of course you are going to pick up knocks/injuries in those positions and then you are immediately going to be playing square pegs when you just have 1 injury in that defensive position. Also, no physical presence in there, if a team has a decent header of the ball or strength/pace we are struggling - and this has been happening since our manager arrived - the shambolic defensive line-up today has nothing to do with bad luck - just god awful planning and backup - we have nine attacking players at the club and only 6 or 7 defenders, our opponents today have nearly double that and double the amount of central defenders than we do, meaning if they pick up 2 or 3 injuries they have cover. Defence has been neglected since the Hughes era and nothing changes from manager to manager, complete lack of quantity, quality, strength, height and variety - there is a reason we cant keep a clean sheet
