In a computer we have the Basic Input Output System also called BIOS.
But how is BIOS pronunced?
I tried google translate, but she pronunced the "I" like the german "Ei" in "ein", or the English "I" (I do). I thought the "I" should be pronunced like the "I" in "In" (in the room).
You don't say einput.
🤔

One of the most bizarre pronunciation is the American pronunciation of the word "Leisure". Was watching an American programme on Discovery last night and the investigators were pronouncing it as "leesure"…really weird.

bi oss
simple really i guess
had a chat with my nephew the other day about bios and what it does as he was interested in overclocking his gaming pc, i suggested first we run some stress tests on the CPU and see how far it can be pushed before we muck about with all that stuff, happy for somebody much more knowledge and interest to point me towards safe ways of doing the actual clocking....
now for some fun!
what does bios stand for
wrong answers only

My thoughts too!👍 I think I will pronunce the 'I' the way you pronunce 'I' in "INPUT", as INPUT is a part of BIOS. I even brought the subject up today prior to a conference at the Health Clinic ...🤠 However, if you don't think of what the I in BIOS stands for, it's understandable to say B-EYE-OSS. If it's a new word, like umbrella or rabbit, but to me it's an abbreviation. Nevertheless, both pronunciations are probably right or at least understandable. And B-EYE-OSS the version used by most people. I've thought about abbreviations for hours today, and realised there's a lot of those but up here when we see them we often actually pronunce what they stand for instead and don't see them as a new word. It seems as the only purpose is to make texts shorter. There's a magazine here called HiFi & Musik. And the HiFi stands for High Fidelity obviously. And it's the same as with BIOS. How is HiFi pronunced? I say H-EYE-FI (with the last I pronunced as in Input)..
