Would you spend 10 million on one player for Stoke?
Obviously it depend who it is but if you use the market prices for players at the moment, you'd get a rough idea of the type of player.
Example: Porstmouth have offered 9m for Crouch, Liverpool want 15m so he could go for 10m.

No we could get 3 good squad players and that would be better for the team.

It is dependant on which player it would be but being sensible it would be a no.
You don't know what is round the corner- the £10 million player could be clobbered in the first minute at the Reebok and be out for the season.
At least if we bought 3 players with £10 million and one got injured, we would at least have two players to show for the money we had spent.
Make sense? ???

No, not at the moment, for the reasons Knowles has stated. But I'm sure we all hope for the day when a Stoke manager could splash out that amount for a player and none of us would turn a hair.

If that £10mill player was guarantee us safety with 30 goals then yes, but i wouldn't accept anything less that that

If I use the example of Crouch (rightly or wrongly). He scored 11 goals mostly from the bench last season. 11 goals from one player at Stoke would give us a real chance of staying up.
Admittedly he had Gerrard, Torres & co around him, so it may be a different story at Stoke.

i would yes, but only if he was a 20 goal a season striker or a midfielder that could make things happen from nothing

Yes I would (like I have £10m in the bank or am a manager, but leaving that to one side...) - I reckon mostly we're going to be spending creatively around the £2/3m level or lower, but pushing the boat way out for a star creative midfielder or striker could make all the difference. Having said that though, for us at this moment it's possibly better business to take a one season hit on the wages for a 30+ year old star midfielder or striker on a free or nominal transfer fee.

No, spending on 1 10 million player would not improve the team, his talent would be wasted as he would be so much better than everyone else. Wages would be a big issue as well
5 or 6 ten millioners, yes
Otherwise better spending 3 or 4 million on 2 or 3 decent players

A 10 million pound player wouldn't join a club such as Stoke.

The days of us shelling out a world record fee for a goalkeeper are gone but certainly not forgotten. It does just show how far we have fallen from grace..
This season is hopefully the first step on our road to paying big money for world class players, and those players wanting to come to play for Stoke..

Good point Wakefield with Rory and Mama around him providing decent service I'm sure you're right he'd score lots more goals at Stoke ;D

No way, I'd rather 3 or 4 players, our squad is threadbare enough, no £10 million pound player would come to us at present.

i wouldn't spend that much on one player - not this season at any rate I bet Portsmouth fans were having this same conversation a few years ago.

depends on how much total money you had. if you had £150m then yes, but if you only had £30m then no.
