They should have been out of site, poor finishing. Our first shot on target on 95 minutes. Looked a lot better with Bae and Burger, we need more legs in the middle. We won’t go down but we don’t look very good do we. Lots of work to do.

Frustrating evening. They are obviously a much better team, but the ref was a joke; and as good as their winner was it came from yet more silliness from captain fantastic. Also Willmot's injury which, knowing our luck, will be another few months.
Could've done with scumming a point tonight because can't imagine we'll be getting much joy at Leicester. Thank fuck we won at bristol to temporarily delay the pressure.

We won’t go down but we don’t look very good do we. Lots of work to do. The midfield is constantly being overrun, we don’t know how or when to press and invariably when we do it is not coherent and we are being played through time and time again. As it stands I don’t know how we move forwards. I would say sit back and try and hit on the break, but the defence is weak as piss.

We might have played ok, but we’ve not improved on last season.
We’ll be bottom half again.
Haven’t heretofore called for Neil’s head but I just don’t see enough improvement and continuing with Laurent has him on very thin ice for me

I think yes, a lot of work needed, but the fight is there and there were no dozy errors. The defence actually defended and put in a shift. We do certainly need composure at times, however I am encouraged by the last two games. It would be unfair to say we were ‘shit’. Gave it a go we did.

If tonight was the best we can muster and now with further injuries can you imagine what the Leicester result will be.

27 games without a clean sheet for Saints, until tonight… that shows how toothless we are. We are missing our three goal scorers Christ not another excuse if you look at Sunderland not one of their strikers have scored yet it's been down to the other players to score

Can you name the goal scoring opportunities we created? They could have had 2 or 3. I think we were poor. Defensively, Laurent put in a 2/10 performance as Captain, and others were 5's and 6's. You would struggle to give a 7. That's a poor performance by any standard. We never looked like scoring either.

I think we were very poor tonight. The young lad should have buried at least one of those chances. Not sure what AN was doing with the subs. Hoever was all over the place.
Let's just hope that the injured guys can turn this round on their return.
Poor atmosphere tonight as well.

Thought we gave it a go tonight and a draw would have been a fair result but it’s Leicester next up and with all the injuries another defeat. No chance are we finishing top half and it’s depressing and just acceptance to me that this is our new reality… scraping bottom half finishes in the championship every year - woopy do

Thought we played well tonight & we’re very unfortunate to lose that game. For the first time in a while I have come home not feeling deflated after a defeat. We were up against 12 men tonight, just needed a bit more quality in the final third & we don’t lose that game.

It tends to happen after losing 40 odd percent percent of games played over the last 5 years. We really didn't play well. Ok, we had some fight with absolutely no quality or end product. 1 shot on target. That isn't playing well.

he was pulling his shorts , stupid by laurent If the ref blew every time their was a tug of the shirt or pull of the shorts from either side we'd be here till midnight. Wasn't enough for a free kick IMO. That's one of the two directives at the beginning of the season NOT to give soft fouls ,and cut down on time wasting..

I actually saw this game. It wasn't a good one from our side, even though a draw would have been fair.
Bae is my favourite player.

If the decisions had gone our way we would have come out of that game with a point. All if's mate, If the ball would've gone in the net, would've been a goal.

Southamptons first clean sheet since March. The manager made a big deal about how we couldn’t break teams down last season, we’re no further down the line now though, if you take out a victory against a shockingly bad Rotherham we’ve been totally insipid…..

We are simply no we’re near good enough getting 50 points will be a miracle , it clearly won’t be with Neil but the lack of any quality in the squad and abject lack of goal threat saysanyone will struggle to get us to 50 points

We were poor from start to finish.
No positives to take from yet another boring tedious loss.
This fraud has no clue whatsoever.

Another loss, another home defeat and another game Neil hasn’t picked his best team. Thank god we got lucky in the week but I think we may be in the bottom 3 after the Leicester game.
We have been unlucky with injuries but that doesn’t excuse, shit tactics, poor game plans and not picking your best players.
Nor does it excuse the debacle of not bringing another centre back or a striker in.

They seemed to pass the ball as a team. Every time we got it, we passed it back to Travers to boot it back to them. What Neil was hoping to achieve with this is beyond me

That's one of the two directives at the beginning of the season NOT to give soft fouls ,and cut down on time wasting.. The directive was aimed at players falling over with virtually no contact. Pulling on shorts or shirts isn't a soft foul it is a foul, if they were all given players would stop doing it, see tackle from behind back in the day. The issue is inconsistent refs.

Looking at the bigger picture we were without our four most potent goalscorers through injury (Vidigal, Campbell, Mmaee and Baker) and, due to injury and lack of squad depth, finished the game with a midfielder at left back, a left back at centre back and a wide right attacker at right back. Some of these could be put down to bad luck but also gaps in the recruitment process (we badly need a commanding centre half). We lost to a direct free kick against a side who knew how to manipulate an inexperienced referee and who basically reffed the game for him. It was telling that despite our lack of attacking options Gayle wasn’t used at any time in the game. I thought Lowe did well but am worried about this Saturday due to lack of numbers, further evidenced by us having two substitute keepers last night to make up the numbers.

Baffling that someone like Wright-Phillips can’t make the bench over a second keeper. Neil must really not rate him at all…….

Vidigal aside, let's not kid ourselves that they are any better and will put it right. They didn't previously.

Still a work in progress and the right permutations have not yet been achieved through injury, suspension poor refereeing or fitness with the 18 new signings. I always thought we would be very inconsistent until end of October at the earliest before pushing on. Not the time to speculate on manager just let him get on with it as he's been the most honest manager since Pulis and has the nous to improve us given time.
Supporters just impatient and want it now like little spoilt kids - its not going to happen overnight - get over it and wait. From a long term Season ticket holder who has seen it all before
