... Be fickle, feckless inconsistent snapped last week full on board with AN out Bournemouth no real opinion tbh but weak defending again
Absolute shambles start to today AN out
Goal out the blue and Stoke switch on, OK no real goal threat first half but we were the better side and Bristol City strangely to me looked nervous
2.2 up and down after that could have gone either way but Stoke showed they have Bollocks second half, great attitude
Good subs Alex What a win, got to be a turning point
Pearson out!

We are right to be concerned. There’s still gaping holes in the squad, but let’s hope this today represents a turning point. It’s still really early days.

Yes it is
Defending is mostly about positioning and concentration, the latter we continue to struggle with 4 Stoke players around the ball for the first goal, none switched on
I think McNally is a bit limited but he does see the danger quicker than Rose

Rose reminds of Steven Tweed. Best thing now is to pair Wilmot with McNally, stick with them and hope they strike up some kind of passable partnership until January.

I think you've forgotten just how bad Tweed was. Rose is at least comfortable on the ball and pick a pass Like Tweed though he consistently switches off He's also a bit slow and does not win much in the air I wouldn't play him but Tweed was deffo worse

Getting through October without ending up in the bottom 3 for me: Is that 6 or 7 players injured now after today, also a shed load of players still getting to know each other and 3 games coming up against Southampton, Leeds & Leicester Massive 3 points though, at half-time we were in the bottom 3, confidence shot and not looking good. Hopefully this will give them a boost and we can pick up some unexpected points in October while players come back from injury and hopefully the team can start gelling and putting in some good performances by November, December - and then we can add some players in the window - two rock the city 6ft 7inch Lewis Dunks in central defence has to be the absolute priority - heads need to roll if we don't get some physical presence in that defence - at the moment we need to score at least 2 to stand a chance of a result - are Overson and Cranson still alive

They are the same goals we are conceding time after time.
Surely this can be worked on?

Simply put we need to score 2 or 3 every week

There is bound to be gaping holes in the squad we needed to do so much and maybe did a few good deals with an eye on the future that weren’t absolutely necessary. They seemed exciting when we signed them and I think most of them have shown promise Jogic hasn’t really had much opportunity to show us any as yet. Maybe Wesley isn’t so bad after all maybe he can manage us until we don’t need a marquee lead the line striker but that’s a big maybe.

It is right and proper to have concerns.
It is everyone’s right to have an opinion.

Neil is still on borrowed time as it stands.
However, you can almost physically feel the relief in the air around the Potteries tonight.

Stick with a back 4 and have those two as our first choice partnership.

Still think he has to go. We are still not good enough. It’s a tough one. We were really poor for long portions of the game today but we’ve battled back from 2-0 and it’s a great result. However, if we comfortably lose the next 2 games, there will definitely be a decision to be made.

Can still go for me, not sorting the defence out in over 12 months is a sackable offence for me.
Ps great mental at the end.

I'm not going to look at it as a turning point because tbh we've probably had a baker's dozen "turning points" since relegation; and they all came to fuck all.
But I'm just happy with a spirited comeback and 3 pts. It definitely allows us all to breathe a little easier. AN is still under pressure but maybe a little less pressure will give him the headspace to make better decisions and lead us to a positive season?

Extremely happy with the result, especially after going 2 goals behind early on and with another referee seemingly favouring our opponents.
It always sounds like sour grapes when we criticise the ref after a defeat but when we win and the man in the middle still gets slated then something is amiss. The standard of referees has dropped considerably in recent years(even with the help of VAR)but in many games this season it seems that different rules apply to different teams and our players are harshly penalised in some games than the opposing team for similar offences.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a really difficult job and I’m amazed by the percentage of decisions they do get right but the inconsistency is infuriating. I can’t understand how simply being stronger than your opponent ends up as a foul but grappling with your hands is just fine.
