Football is a team game and the manager is in a way part of the team. What I mean is he has to suit the squad and motivate the players. There are different styles. A tough disciplinarian did not go down well at Middlesbrough, but a high profile ex player did. Jones seemed to fit Luton well, but unable to manage the more mature/experienced profile players we and Southampton had. We have a talented group of players generally younger than the ones who left in the summer. Most aspire to move up to the next level and we need a manager who bring command their respect and inspire them by having performed at the top level.
An ex Premier League player is going to coach rather than brow beat is what is required..
The first step is to cut out the silly mistakes and solidify the defence. Three lumbering CBs who can't pass is not the way to go.
The mistake the owners are making is picking a manager to suit them not the squad he has to manage. A wise football director is the answer to stop appointing the wrong manager.
Having said all that, I haven't quite given up on Neil yet. We have very talented players; much better than since we were relegated. We've played better teams, but man for man we have just as good as other clubs. If Neil could just get them to gel, we could transform the team. We've played top teams, not got the breaks (opponents get lucky breaks, and brilliant GK saves), and our strikers are just not clicking. If we had a few breaks the team's confidence would leap and transform the play.

I'd go foreign.
Fuck knows who, but find someone youngish and full of ideas who's got a bit of a track record somewhere. There must be a few of them out there who'd jump at the chance of a gig like Stoke?
Absolutely sick of these 5-3-2 loving idiots we keep employing.

This squad is crying out for a youngish foreign coach. Have mentioned Miron Muslic a couple of times but the kind of manager we should be looking at. Managed at 4 levels think it is, now in the first division in Belgium with Circle Brugge and were third until today. Won't be there long for me and probably achievable at the minute , looking at salaries if genuine. If not him, someone like him who has worked his way up on the continent and not just landed a job in this country as an ex player etc or once got a team promoted .

Wayne Rooney will be our next manager. He’ll accept the role as the logistics are second to none for him…… Jesus fucking Christ. Wayne Rooney

Queens was like the Serengeti. Dot Cotton, Hilda Ogden and Nurse Gladys Emmanuel types on the hunt like a pack of hyenas. So they say..... Nah they were more Muffs type. Feltz, Jane McDonald, the Nolan’s, Angela Rippon that kind of thing. They’d suck you off for a Diamond White back in the day Going in there off yer tits on class A drugs was a great experience 👍

I can see obvious targets;
1. Alex Neil 2. Alex Neil 3. Alex Neil
Thinking of anyone else is beyond ridiculous.

Why don't we just ask Brighton who they recommend. Didn't it come out that Brighton look about 10 years and about 3 managers ahead with their network and data?

Big money and no pressure? Why wouldn't you? Because they’re fucking clueless and set you up to fail? To me they are dream employers. Pay you well, back you and don't quibble about the payoff. Plus free helicopter rides if you want them.

Potter aside ( who’d never come) the list of those out of work ain’t great.
Need a manager who would get a tune out of this squad.
As to who- I really don’t know.
To be honest this is getting tiresome. Every year scraping around looking for the answer.
We have again signed an unbalanced squad with too many flair players and not a single quality centre back or striker.
That said - firmly believe someone could get the best out them and do so by deciding on a system and sticking with it!
How do you get players gelling/ playing how u want when you swap the tactics / set up weekly?!

Who’s the next Kieran McKenna or Enzo Maresca? We should be looking at the best young coaches out there, sick and tired of the “tried and tested” and the dour shite they bring with them. We did that with Nathan Jones...
