Toothless attacking. We have to find a way of getting two strikers up front without the dreaded 5 at back which we can’t play. Don’t have that striker who can lead the line and be a threat on his own. ( everyone saying we need another striker on deadline day !!)

The two blokes we’ve bought in to play in the centre of the forward line have looked toss. So much so that because one is currently injured he’s now the messiah. Wasn’t it obvious all along that our biggest deal of the Summer needed to be for a mobile targetman who was competent in the air. How many goes have we had since Fletcher. Non of them have looked remotely suitable for the role.

We just need to play 4231.
Like we have done for the last 7 years.
Play the ball on the ground, get the attackers supporting each other etc.
We have the players for it, we just need to do it.

Why do that when you can play 4 3 3, with no recognised fullbacks, three workers in the middle creating nothing, and a sea of nothingness up top

Bang on the money. Neils (who i like) problem is 1 - He has injuries 2 - Appears terrified of leaving one of the 3 CMs out for a more positive option. 3 - Doesn’t have enough confidence in our CBs so over protects them. I know it was only Rotherham but we’ve gone backwards since the first game of the season where we looked a proper unit and with the addition of Burger we should be better not worse I’d go with Burger Pearson Vidigal Bae or Johnson Hack Mmaee When everyone’s fit

With us even if it works all the threat from the FB’s comes up one side.

It often is though Wide forwards end up covering the full backs leaving 1 guy on his todd With Pep moving football back to WM formation the logical next step is 424 in about 5 years time with genuine wingers playing on their own side

To be fair It is isolated if you have Campbell ambling around on one side, Leris doing whatever he does on the otherside and Johnson running around like a headless chicken in the no 10. I woukdnt fancy leading that line 😀

1 up front means the one has to not only be good at all aspects of forward play but also Score goals
2 upfront can see players compliment each others strengths/negate their weaknesses
Sets the tone for the whole side, lead from the front
1 up front is so easy to defend against, pushes play into our half

Of all the things we have tried, it’s difficult to know how this hasn’t even been an option yet. That said, I keep saying we need to give something time to work rather than changing players and formations every game.

It often is though Wide forwards end up covering the full backs leaving 1 guy on his todd With Pep moving football back to WM formation the logical next step is 424 in about 5 years time with genuine wingers playing on their own side The full backs won’t overly need protecting with Pearson and Burger playing deeper. You have two focal central attacking points, one deeper, one advanced and wide players. You have the extra man in midfield when you don’t have the ball. Campbell Bae Vidigal Mmaee On paper is sensational. What lets it down are the centre halves as they need to learn to pass.
