It flew over Penkhull and Oakhill, well that’s where I saw it. Looked like an old German bomber, a big twin engined thing. Anyone know what it was?

You still see the occasional Lancaster Bomber? Bit bigger and I seem to remember seeing them quite a bit, I guess for demonstration purposes?

flightradar24 is excellent. Would answer all your questions and I think it has the facility that if you point your phone at the plane it identifies it

There are plans to restore a third to airworthy condition. www.lincsaviation.co.uk/lancaster-restoration/Interestingly, if I remember correctly, the two current airworthy examples both entered service too late to see combat during the war.

I believe it was the same plane booked to fly over Market Drayton. We had a parade to commemorate 100 years of the Drayton branch of the RBL and got granted freedom of the town
