I'm curious to see if anyone springs a surprise with their contributions.
I'll start with two - Hard Boiled (1992) and The Rock (1997)

Die Hard is the best action film ever made. The first and last Die Hards are the only ones in the franchise I haven’t seen. That reminds to tick off Die Hard 1 this Xmas as many cinemas show it around then. I do think Die Hard 2 is right up there as one of my all time favourite action films though.

The last one is dire, not worth bothering. Think the first is as close to perfect as an action film script gets, Willis and Rickman both phenomenal in it.

Yeah, the last one should probably have been on limited release in Switzerland and titled "Die Hard with Dignity".

Die Hard is the best action film ever made. absolutely correct his set the blueprint. everything else is now die hard on a plane, a bus, in a prison, in the whitehouse, on a ship. As far as action comedies go Lethal weapon 2 is close behind Predator is up there to

Are Bruce Lee films classed as action movies?
If so 'Enter the Dragon' and 'Fist of Fury'. Probably not the best but cult classic nonetheless.

As a teenager probably Big Trouble in Little China was my favourite and recently got a bit of a guilty pleasure in the one where Jason Statham saves the Chinese maths genius girl who remembers bank codes. Tell No-one is probably one of my all time favourites but that might be more a thriller than an action film.
However, if you’re after 90 minutes packed full of pure adrenalin; loud bangs; car chases; espionage; explosions; double crossing; hot Latino women; Mexican stand-offs; multiple gun fights; a tractor chase; African tribal warfare; even hotter Eastern European women; a bank job; The Mafia; a dwarf throwing scene; more double crossing; a hovercraft chase; a sword fight; a David Hasselhoff cameo and a twist at the end that you’ll never see coming then Vol II of Badger’s Sex Tape is an absolute must watch and can't recommend enough! Truly one of few occasions the sequel is better than the original as there’s far more character development than simply wiping his knob on a discarded burger wrapper around the back of Mecca Bingo before cutting to end credits.

Second this. When you think action, you think Schwarzenegger. Although T2 is what he’s best known for with all the special affects, Commando is just pure and simple “Arnie gets mad and obliterates everything in sight”.

Personally I prefer the older movies where the action was real, even though less "spectacular" than modern films. I just can't get excited by computer simulations and special effects where you are watching something artificial even though convincing.
Lawrence of Arabia was all actual action, train crashes, 100s of fighters on horseback, etc. All filmed in the desert and on location, not in studios. The only thing artificial/simulated in the film was pictures of the sun. It was a painted disc because they couldn't point a film camera at then sun! I don't think they actually killed anybody as far as I know.
Conversely in Ben-Hur 1925 there was an actual death in the filming of the chariot scene. The relatives of the deceased gave consent for the death to be in the film.

I have a bit of a love in for Keanu. Seemingly, a decent guy who’s had a damn hard life.

Total Recall is a belter. Saw that in cinema and was so good we went back next day and saw it again. I do like Last Action Hero too albeit soundtrack contributes heavily. Van damme and Seagal had some belters too, many mentioned already
