5 league games 3 lost 2 won….it just feels the same, we will win enough to stay up and lose enough not to challenge.
Yes it’s still early in the season and yes they have to bond but honestly it feels just the same to me, it’s a bastard league that requires 11 bastards and I still don’t think we have anywhere near that

The teams that get promoted either have something special or a very strong and well drilled system. As we did under Tone.

I don't think you really need to go further than that part of the post do you? There are teams up there tonight who won't be near it come May, today's opponents included. Likewise, there are teams down there who will be in with a shot of the play-offs come the end of the season. Give it time.

I’m a very reactionary person.
I’m trying not to be at the moment.
But it does feel a bit samey.
It’s more defensively where we’ll struggle. How we didn’t strengthen anymore is criminal.

Didn’t Reading start well last season?

It's so early and we've had such an influx of new players from all over the globe come in, mostly in the last month. It would be a miracle to gel and be right on it from the word go. Including the cup we've won 4 and lost 4. All in all more positives than negatives. If come November, we are no better and struggling, then we should worry.

That sort of style is hard to play against when it's done well. They'll cause a lot of teams problems this year.

Didn’t Reading start well last season? And we are also on same points at this point as Burnley were last year

Time to gel with new players is one thing, lack of effort from some is hard to take, and it's the ones who were here last season

It's not the same to me.
We lost, it happens and will always happen. If you can't take it then go and support Man City, not Stoke City.
Personally I saw a lot to get excited about. Burger above all else.
When these players get to know each other's game they have the potential to go all the way. There are still gaps to plug and some were found wanting. I thought Campbell was well off the pace of some others, which shows how much more talent there is in the side.
We have thrashed a poor team like Rotherham and struggled against well organised sides. When Neil gets them organised better we will beat a lot of the better sides.
The results may be the same after 5 games, but the team I support does not feel the same to me. In fact just the opposite.

I think they did what they need to well, but the ref gave them a helping hand. That is the annoying thing about this league though - you can build a team of exciting players but, a lot of the time, teams are successful just by being well drilled and difficult to play against. Makes you wonder why that’s become so difficult for us for the last 8 years or so.

It was very disappointing yesterday, but recent home games against Preston have usually not gone our way.
Very early days yet but I still think we'll end up having a good season. Maybe not good enough for the playoffs but certainly a top 10 finish. Laurent and Campbell do worry me though, as they're so inconsistent and just don't look bothered half the time.

They are rapidly becoming the stand out common denominator with the lethargic and casual approach. Just have to hope they are side lined sufficiently to avoid their attitude influence the new lot too much. That air of defeat and disinterest still lingers,or so it appears.

Yeah, so deflating. Just feels like one step forward, two steps back constantly.
The team last season seemed to be doing just as well as this one at this moment in time.

Yes it was a very familiar feeling when we left a gaping hole for them to score their second, fed up of seeing the away end in raptures. However what does feel different is I believe we now have most of the pieces to put it right, unlike last season where we had very little room within the squad to make a difference. What does seem apparent though is that with the exception of Rotherham the overall quality of the sides we have faced has improved from last season so we can't afford to switch off for 15 minutes every game. Anyone can beat anyone in this league and I for one am pretty excited as to what is to come.

It doesn’t feel the same at all to me. We’re 7 games into the season now and the only game that felt like last season was Ipswich. We probably deserved to win at Millwall and I don’t think we deserved to lose yesterday either. The underlying stats yesterday we had a higher xG (both teams just over 2 xG) 70% possession. On another day campbell doesn’t fluff his lines and the ref isn’t bent, and we win comfortably.
From what I’ve seen so far, and expecting us to only improve as this new squad gels and sorts itself, I will be shocked if we don’t finish top 10. And not at all surprised if we make the playoffs.

I thought they were shit going forward until that ex derby player came on n does what he normally does against us. They were solid at the back and midfield
