Pretty alarming how these are racking up already. Only 4 games played, including cup, and we have 12 yellow cards. Some of the cards have been a complete joke and i certainly question the standard of refereeing so far. It could become an issue when the card tally mounts up and we starting getting players banned. www.skysports.com/stoke-city-stats

It doesn't help that we've literally stumbled on three of the biggest idiots in the centre for all three league games.
I did say the other day that today's ref had the most unfortunate surname!
Christ alive he was shite!

Refs are dishing yellow cards out left right and center, it's the new initiative to cut out dissent and timewasting.

Was McNally booked for the challenge today or the reaction? Looked like a clean tackle to me.

All of the games I’ve watched so far this season (not just Stoke games) have been fucking laughable in terms of officiating.

I've just checked the stats actually, how did we get 4 yellows & Watford only 1 today?!
The Fouls column of 21 by us to 10 by Watford doesn't seem right to me either. Although I'm guessing they were committing them and were they going unpunished by the ref having an obvious bias against us when it came to challenges.
I guess being Stoke fans we are always going to feel hard done to by to some degree but I do really the ref let alot of Watfords antics slip today.
I was actually waiting for him to disallow our goal for a few moments after it hit the back of the net such as the way he'd reffed us up to that point! Thankfully he didn't.

I think he flew under the radar because of the result but he was atrocious. - To many silly bookings - Letting there fouls go and blowing up for ours. - Missing what looked like a pen for them.

I always try to take it with a pinch of salt when the referee appears to be a wanker because we're all completely biased, but it did seem that in a scrappy and physical game today we were being penalised in 50/50s whenever a Watford player ended up on the floor. Not saying that they were particularly trying to dive as part of their game plan but they quickly figured out that if they went down they were going to get the decision regardless of whether or not it was a foul.
Wesley on the other hand had three players holding him back and pulling his shirt at the same time at one point and nothing, for example.

Spot on, and when Stoke players tried the falling-over-at-the-slightest-contact ploy, the ref still gave a free kick to Watford. btw has the extra time experiment now ended?

Thought he did really well to overlook Watford's penalty claim! I thought the ref was going to be balls deep in that penalty spot the moment it happened. As he gave free kicks to Watford for every soft incident before that I was very surprised to see him let that chance to blow his whistle go by! After seeing a replay of it I actually think the Watford player made too much of it, and it actually looks like diving. Anyway, I think we would have been livid with rage if not given that one!

If the time wasting ones cause players to speed up in the long run then fine. Setting an example early on .

I have no problem with the new initiative, and they can dish out as many cards as they like...as long as they do it to both sides! This idiot let one of their players commit at least 3 yellow card offences (he 'warned' him over one of them) before he finally got his card out to him. Stoke players were offered no such leeway

17 cards in 5 games after Millwall.
Hope we get the depth in the squad by Thursday.
Pearson wants a rocket up his arse for his stupid card.

I think until players stop the antics I hope they keep doing it. We all want the ball in play longer I would imagine and to cut out the time wasting and to be ultra strict until they learn perhaps is the only way.

Agree but they’ve got to be consistent with it, why wasn’t the Millwall player booked on Saturday when he kicked the ball away from Neil as he tried to pick it up so we could take the throw quickly? One of many terrible decisions by that ref, who is always the same whenever I see him doing a game.
