It's a tough one for me as I like defenders to be defenders and his positioning at times is extremely poor. He drifted into the middle so many times today leaving a massive gap for their left side which they kept utilising. His movement going forward is good and links up well with the attacking players. Overall I think he probably adds more than its costs us. I think we may have to go back to Andy Griffin / Erik Peters for the last time we had full backs who were better at defending than attacking - probably wrong? What about Sterling last season? A very good defender that I hope we will go back for in January as I don't think he is first choice at Rangers. ![8-|](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/rY_vRFLA3mqqdMbEG4cF.gif)

I think as a partnership Bardsley and Pieters. I do really enjoy RB getting forward and Trent who Hoover has been compared to is one of my favourite non Stoke players. I'm contradicting myself there I suppose to a degree. I think as modern day full backs go Walker is probably up there with the ideal bits of both.

I don’t even think his crossing is that good. Way too many don’t do anything. Yeah you have a strange view of the game where your perception trumps actual output.

We had one last season in Sterling but give me what Hoever brings any day over Sterling. The days of the solid fullback are long gone for any team with ambitions of finishing towards the top end of the table. We just need to to get the team balance right to see the best of Hoever. For anyone who gets to the ground early to watch the warm ups just watch the skills this kid possesses. He's absolutely ridiculously talented.

Great going forward, but his defending has me worried.
