Swedish dude in the discus just now!! Gold. Last throw. Class. πΈπͺ Congrats! I don't usually watch discus but caught the last throws before the 100m final. What a great finish. A good 100m Womens race - a shame for Dina Asher-Smith, but hopefully she'll win a medal in the 200m. The American winning shot put gold with two blood clots in his legs (advised not to fly) was a crazy story yesterday.

I know I started this thread but it collides with my day schedule and also with the Ladies Volleyboll Tournament, so I've missed most of it. I know Khaddi didn't make it to the final in the long jump. And Daniel Steel won the gold in discus today. Hopefully more at the weekend.

Brilliant Gold medal for Josh Kerr to beat the arrogant Ingerbritsen in the 1500m. Great run/race. Well done Josh you had me cheering off my seat.

I thought Kerr went too soon for gold and didn't think he'd hang on. Great stuff.
I loved seeing the BBC in studio footage too - even Michael Johnson was loving it!

The BBC coverage of the World Athletics is absolutely wonderful.
Great presentation, and I find the coverage always very focused and informative, especially Michael Johnson who is a class act.
It's been another fantastic Championships and some excellent British performers. I find Athletics so much more inspiring than football these days generally.
The Athletes are so so professional and just get on with it.
I was really hoping Hudson-Smith would hang on, but he gave it everything. Kerr's run was phenomenal.

Fantastic gold-winning run from way behind from Femke Bol in the 4x400m relay after smashing her face into the track in sight of gold earlier in the week.
A cracking bronze in the 100m from Zharnel Hughes a couple of days ago.
GB&NI with a record-equalling 10 medals. It's been a good championship.
I agree the BBC coverage is very good. Gabby Logan is an excellent presenter and Michael Johnson is arguably the best pundit going. There's always a good rapport with the presenters, pundits, and medalists that pop by for an interview.
My only criticism is it could be easier to find out the times of individual events and when the Brits are competing.
Apparently Netflix are doing an Athletics documentary, so maybe it'll be the new F1...

Have not seen much of the Athletics World Championship 2023 at all, practically only Daniel StΓ₯hl's winning throw in discus, that looked to be even longer in fact.
Also saw an interview today w Duplantis today, but haven't seen him jump.
I also saw the Netherlands women 4 x 400 meter win. And the last high jump some female somewhere from eastern europe made. The last thing happening in the Olympics this time.
Forgot ... saw Khaddi Sagnia who didn't make it to the final in long jump.
We got two gold medals then. πΈπͺ πΈπͺ
But they also reported some guy got silver in long distance walking, must have been in the beginning of the Olympics.
Considering Germany got no medals in the Olympics (hard to believe), we had relative success, I suppose.
If I got the time I will look at The Summary of it all online, they mentioned this evening.
I bet Great Britain got loads of medals? π€

Denise Lewis crammed in to a pencil skirt. Something for everybody π

Had a look at Wikipedia (awful website) and it said 3 medals for Sweden, 2 of them gold. Great Britain 7 medals, also 2 of them gold. Also, in the person list it said the swede got a bronze, but in medal league list we had no bronze, but a silver instead. On tv they said two silver.
I think they haven't perhaps counted all yet?
Germany sent 78 athletes but didn't even get a bronze medal somewhere.
Great Britain sent 55 athletes and Sweden 38.

Itβs been a fantastic championships from day 1. Top class sports, great coverage, and so encouraging for Britain. Really looking forward to Paris. The work our athletes put in is phenomenal. I have so much respect for them.
