It wouldn’t be Stoke unless we had a whipping boy to stick the boot in every time we lose. There’s often a reason players are slated. Often, the fans have it spot on.

He was. He had about 5 good games and the rest of the time was fucking shit. But he’s good on social media so it’s fine. Was just about to post you can count on one hand how many good games he had for us. Just what was AN thinking retaining him let alone giving him the captains arm band, literally the last person I’d give it to, he doesn’t look interested 90.99% of the time.

Big mistake making him Captain as he is going the same way Baker did. Wilmot would make a good captain.

Get rid of him. Anyone who swapped they shirt to an opposition player and laughed with him. Needs to go.. Blackpool away last season.. No loyalty to our club..

He definitely needs dropping. Hopefully he responds in the right way and is chomping at the bit whenever he gets his next chance. We need players on the bench hungry to push themselves and us on, otherwise get rid. All 4 subs improved us massively today.

Laurent and Pearson been hopeless in the 2 away games Pearson was fine today apart from getting booked for mouthing off.

On top of his game a very good player, but way too inconsistent to be our inspireing captain IMHO.

Often they’re just an easy target. He’s a frustrating player. Can be great, can be dire. In his defence he’s played alongside Thompson twice. Let’s see how he gets on in a three with Pearson and Burger.

Pearson or Wilmot show more leadership qualities at this point I think. Wilmot would be an awful choice, he doesn't command the defence so he's not going be any good an entire team.

It wouldn’t be Stoke unless we had a whipping boy to stick the boot in every time we lose. He's been wank when we have won. He’s been underwhelming this season. At times last season he was quality. Let’s see how he does when he’s surrounded by quality. In that first half today there was shite all around him. Thompson was crap. Johnson was trash. Tymon was worse. Laurent seems to be struggling as captain. Maybe the arrival of the new baby means his routine is thrown. I think there’s enough potential in him to believe that he can improve massively in a settled team surrounded by decent players.

If we can upgrade him and ship him out in the next week great. But I don’t think that will happen. So we need to get a tune out of him. In a three with Pearson and Burger he might be able to put in some decent performances.

I like Laurent, when he’s on song he can be a right handful making late runs into the box, having high energy, putting himself about but the issue as many have said it that he’s no where near consistent enough and if we want to progress we need that consistency.
For me the midfield has to be similar to the Whelan and Nzonzi days with those roles being done by Pearson and Burger with a DJ / Bae being the link between the front 3. I think this has a nice balance to it.

It wouldn’t be Stoke unless we had a whipping boy to stick the boot in every time we lose. He was toss last week when we beat Watford if that helps? He's been toss for all bar about 6 games. Utterly ridiculous decision to make him club captain and one that needs changing quickly.

I've just got back.
He was (and is) fucking garbage and I'd very much like never to see him in a Stoke shirt again.
An absolute 'nothing' player. Burger did more as towards affecting the game in 40 odd minutes than Laurent has done in all the time he's been here.
Shite.

He was crap last week too, when we won Laurent is either really good or just crap which for an experienced player isn't good enough Can't be great every week so when not great at least keep it simple and do your job but he doesn't However first half I'd say 6 of the side were awful Wes and DJ lucky to stay on, to be fair they both played OK second half I'm fuming about today the decent second half emphasises even more just how bad they were first half Don’t care what formation or what players away at Millwall you have to be ready to compete and we just were not ready Entire midfield were flakier than anything Cadburys have ever come up with All 4 subs played well as did the keeper

Did Millwall back off in the second half or did we take it to them? Even in the 2nd half Rowett nullified the Leris effect (to some degree) when he bought the fast sub on. I'm with you on the formation. It should not matter and with Copper, Hutchinson, Bradshaw I thought an extra defensively minded player was the right thing to do. The issue was that we were very sloppy after 10 mins and cost ourselves the game. 2 losses already this season, I'm not getting excited and understand we need to gel. If by October we are still talking about gelling, something it's clearly wrong. With regards to JL he has had a poor start to the season. He did last season. He also ended last season poorly. Is he injured, being asked to do something he can't do, or has eyes elsewhere?

There’s one player who usually gets the brunt of the blame when things go bad. Maybe it’s the same at all clubs but I know it definitely is at Stoke. Right now it’s Laurent. He has been disappointing so far this season but so have a fair few players.
