They say a week is a long time in politics, this last few weeks have proved what a difference real intent and structure of thinking can make to a football club. I watched the fasn forum online last night and it was so uplifting and refreshing to hear such forward thinking and finally it seems the root and branch changes that we needed and were promised after relegation are taking place.
The signings have just kept coming and the excitement levels have continued on an upward curve even if many supporters look at some of the players and say never heard of him, it seems those recruiting have really done their homework and it’s not just a name in a boon or a fleeting youtube video recommended by an agent. The sheer professionalism of the system shone thorough listening to them last night.
It seems we are not even finished yet which is also vvery encouraging because we still need quality in depth but it’s certainly looking much improved on previous windows.
Of course now its over to AN and his coaching staff to mould this new exciting squad into a serious football team. I just hope people will give the project the time it needs, the new players will need some time and not all of them will be an instant success or maybe ever a success but you get a feeling it’s just the beginning and they wil get it right.
I am sure some players will be leaving before the window closes but it was encouraging to hear it will only be if the price is right and the deal suits Stoke City, so many times we have just allowed players to walk away for peanuts. The new regime will hopefully enthuse and encourage the players who have been here a while to raise their game or become just squad players who can’t break into the first eleven, if not they can and should be replaced in the coming windows.
We as supporters have been crying out for positive signs from the club since 2015 and now they are coming with huge bells and whisles attached and we need to show the same enthusiasm to help the players when times get a little tough which they will. Just like the old days of promotion and those early years in the Premier League where the supporters helped make the Brit a real uncomfortable place for the opposition.
I genuinely believe we can achieve something special in the next few seasons and we might just give supporters the excitement we have been craving since the Stokelona days.
If some of these players really show their potential they will become hero worshipped very quickly and that could drive them to even higher possibilities.
It was also so refreshing hearing the close links being set in place for the youngsters to interact with first team and that the door is open and they genuinely want the youngsters to kick it down and progress into the first team, so often you got the feeling that we didn’t believe we had young players capable of progressing apart from a very few talents,
now it seems we have some really exciting players on the fringe of breaking through. There is nothing better than players coming through the ranks and giving supporters the pride of saying he is one of our own, even if he comes from Nepal.
I must admit when I read the board and heard the Dong had been released I was thinking my god we have just signed the Vietnamese Messi.
