Has there been anything official re injuries from pre-season? All I've heard is Lewis Baker out for 2 months.
Gayle Tezgel Johnson (who never gets injured)
All had or picked up injuries, would be good if anyone could update please.

I keep thinking (hoping) that Baker's drop off last year was a direct result of him needing surgery and he was just "gutting it out" until season end. (Because otherwise it makes no sense to me and it doesn't appear that he's going anywhere - yet)

And what's the story with Gayle? Is there any chance that he will come back a different player? (Maybe one with an arse lift for instance?) Or do we have to just dread the endlessness? I'd love to see him flaring out somehow. What a joy it would be if he could become an impact player. Am I just dreaming ...?

And what sort of injury does Gayle have anyway?

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-injury-emre-tezgel-8642850 Emre Tezgel will be eased back into the mix at Stoke City as he recovers from injury. The 17-year-old England youth striker is expected to be in the treatment room for about another fortnight with an injury picked up before a friendly against Levante just over two weeks ago. But he won’t be rushed into the thick of the Championship straight away as coaches try to make sure that when he's back, he's back for good. Alex Neil said: “He’s still going to be a couple of weeks and then it’ll need to be a gradual process to bring him in because he’s broken down too often. We need to build him up first before we start reintroducing him.

Pearson is the big worry.
The thought of starting at Rotherham with Thompson is a bit frightening.

May as well reopen the thread as yet again it seems our luck hasnt been great and the list is growing
Stevens - Calf Injury playing for N Ireland. Needs to be assessed. Vidigal - Was touch and go for Preston but now hearing he’s unlikely to play v Norwich after a heavy tackle. Mmaee - Hamstring. Unlikely to be fit for Norwich. Tezgal - Injured still. Don’t want to bring him back to soon. Baker - Out after knee op. Not too far away. Travers - Been left out of Ireland squad for next game. Fingers crossed it won’t be due to injury.

I’m not aware of them having issues prior to joining us. There’s got to be a time when we have to start looking at our medical team as bar Vidigal’s none of them seem down to contact.

Irish FA tweet seems to confirm Travers has picked up an injury.
Hopefully nothing serious. Last thing we need is a prolonged spell of Bonham

The way it's phrased with Max O'Leary "drafted in as GK cover" suggests Travers' exclusion is injury-related too, doesn't it? Could be something minor and precautionary. I'm already nervous about Bonham playing at Norwich though.

This is why replacing Bonham was important.
You play him and you’re effectively tying one hand behind your back.

Difficult to know how concerned to be. Could be massively precautionary - or a significant injury, and full-on 'Welcome to Bonham'.
You'd think we know shortly.
And with Stevens, all injuries are harder to get over at 33 than 23, as seen with his muscle problems last year. So calf problem doesn't really tell us that much. Pretty sure he actually made it to HT against France though, where it was decided he couldn't carry on

This is why replacing Bonham was important. You play him and you’re effectively tying one hand behind your back. I get where you are coming from but according to the internet, Travers is on 20 grand a week, Bonham is on 3 grand a week ( 3500) . It's not normal in the championship, to have two twenty grand a week goalies. Could we get significantly better than Bonham for 3 grand a week? Maybe ? But I am not sure? Bonham's going to come in and play like a second string goalie, because that's what he is. He's honest, brave and has the ability of a number 2 . If you think there is some one much better than Bonham, who wants to sit on stokes bench for 3 grand week...then the obvious question is...who ?
