Hughes rejected a £40m offer for him from Juventus. Nice one Mark. What is your source for such a remark?

I think you might have got that wrong, it was 40m IRR (Iranian Rials) approximately £723. Gouranga.

He did an interview (in French) the other month, entitled "Giannelli Imbula reveals the hell he's been through since leaving Olympique de Marseille (in 2015)" -
Several critical comments about him underneath the video (roughly translated):
"It's always the fault of others with him. His father ruined his career, he ate his money. His father exploiting his son by sending him anywhere, he drove his son crazy. Imbula had the reputation of a shitty fucker, who never made an effort to adapt, never respected his teammates and coaches!"
"A player who does not know how to question himself. Always talking about external elements to justify his failures. In life, our failures have external and internal causes. He lacked investment and relied too much on his natural talent"
"this player is very bad outside of football, a succession of bad choices, does not know how to surround himself with the right people. The failures in our lives are our responsibility globally, past an age it is more possible to blame others"
"A big problem of professionalism... how can one occupy a place on the bench without equipment. There is no reason that can justify this. Too bad but he could have had a great career, he has a big responsibility in this relative failure."
Someone else mentions he got scammed - not sure what that's about.

Staggering to turn down 40 million for him
Not , prefers the ball on his left foot, but can use his right foot, like say tye Campbell
This guy was completely one footed and hopeless, once forced onto his weaker foot.

Again though this is where the club should have come in and got him sold.
It shouldn’t have been down to the manager.

I really don’t believe that even we would let the manager decide on stuff like that, especially a transfer as big as that. It sounds like Cartwright trying to make himself look better to me. When really if true it’s just showing once again how little he actually did whilst at the club.

We won’t get anywhere giving a manager full reign, as proved over the last few years the successful teams are ones that structure the club in a way that the manager does training, press conferences, and picks the team. That said I’ll be supporting Neil until the shit hits the fan

If a bid was received the club should have snapped their hands off, especially given what we now know about his attitude and refusal to integrate with his teammates. To me though it seems like Cartwright blowing smoke up his own arse to show how amazing he is to his new club. ‘Look at me, I signed this player for X and we could have made Y profit. I’ll do the same for you if you listen to me.’

Apart from anything else Juventus go for (very top end) free transfers not so much £40m punts on up and coming players from foreign leagues, not their style

How he’s got another job after overseeing some of the worst transfer deals in recent times is beyond me!

In a position of power on transfers and still couldn’t make a common sense deal. What a useless turd he was.

I think he’s talking a load of crap. Surely the club would have accepted the bid with it being such a big amount & out of Hughes’ control.
Although if there is any truth in it, then maybe it explains why he seemed to down tools.
