There doesn't seem to be a lot to complain about with this addition. A good age at 27, out of contract,so no fee,a good height at 6 foot 2 and 3 years experience at championship level.Only time will tell.

You're on the site giving your opinion the same as others. Those stats would and probably should worry most people who've watched our games and watched us get bullied frequently by bog standard championship lumps. One thing you are very right about - let's see what happens when he actually plays. His stats show 3 less clean sheets than Stoke managed all year, despite playing in 22 games less. He also managed to be part of a clean sheet at the Bet 365 - and you think he’s a squad player? Just what sort of Centre Half are you expecting us to pick up- the best we could hope for is Tzuanabe, and hope we could get half a season from him? Coventry had one of the best defences all season- I’d have thought any of their Centre Halves would walk into our side. But Rose was not Coventry’s regular CB. Last season their first choice CBs were McFadzean and Doyle. Panzo was their third CB up to February, and then McNally thereafter. Rose hardly got a sniff. And your stats are slightly skewed. He only started 18 games, of which just 7 were clean sheets. Another 7 of those games were losses! Don’t get me wrong, I think Rose is still a work in progress and with some good coaching, can become a more complete centre back. But right now he should not be seen as a starter and I truly hope we have someone more physical and imposing to come in to partner Wilmot.

What concerns me is the fact that we seem to be making Wilmot the bee's knees.

Good age ✅ Good fee ✅ Quick ✅ Progressive passer ✅ Percentage of aerial & ground duals won being better than an average championship centre half ✅ * Good character ✅
Seems to tick a lot of boxes for how AN wants to play; RM said as much and they both said they want to identify players with traits that others might undervalue but fit AN’s style. Plus Cov wanted to keep him & offered him a new deal! Whether he’s a first XI starter or not, with injuries & suspensions he will play a lot (just look at how many games Fox started at CH last year!)
* also according to footystats.org the %ground duels won were slightly less than Sanderson, but his aerial duel % was slightly better - both above average!

It’s not common that players get to this stage and then drastically improve. I’m pretty happy with this signing if he is a regular but not a guarantee (based on what I’ve gathered about him online, incl. on here). However, I don’t think it’s likely that he will get much better than he is currently.

Stoke played Coventry at Stoke in October- he started and lost his place following the defeat by Norwich in the 3rd week of January? That suggests he was a regular until that defeat.

I think he will be below average for the division but just about okay, not a complete disaster.

For sure. But I think Johnson will play pretty regularly if he can stay fit. Not so sure re Rose. You’d hope we can sign a really good CB because both him and Wilmot leave a bit to be desired quality wise. I expect Stevens to start more than he doesn’t as well if he stays fit. In truth it concerns me that Wilmot seems to be a nailed on starter, let alone our player of the season. For me Wilmot has more bad games than good ones and has a major clanger in him every game, if we’re serious in doing well I’d seriously want better than him Agreed. Wilmot is so overrated in the fanbase it’s unreal. He’s just a very average to poor Championship centre back who should be used to give someone decent a rest.

Why is it cringey? Songs have to start somewhere.

Plus our fans can't sing the songs we already have correctly never mind new ones 🤣

Michael Rose the boat ashore Hallelujah With a slight tweak, I think this would work when he goes up for set piece. Michael Rose, he's gonna score, Hallelujah...
