Forward Viktor Gyökeres sold from Coventry City to Sporting Lissabon. Damn. We should have made an offer.
Sporting's most expensive transfer ever they just said on tv.
280 Million SEK.
(€24M).
Q: What would Stoke have offered?

Q: What would Stoke have offered? He’s proved himself to be an excellent championship player and deserves the move. The Portuguese league shouldn’t be a problem, I expect him to move again pretty quickly tbh to a decent team

He's an average championship footballer. I wouldn't say he has any talent really.
There will come a point where we all need to look at ourselves and decide whether we are going to live our lives with integrity and if so we are going to have to switch off the professional football

He looks like one of those players who are good enough for the championship but would be a poor player at premier league level.
Moving to the Primeira liga he will do well because apart from the top teams its championship at best.
Coventry have done exceptionally well to get the fee they have and in Simms replaced pretty much like for like.

I partly agree but this guy is a Sweden international and scores at 1 goal every 2.5 games or less. In a shit team. Ellis Simms has done nothing. The part I agree with is the move to Portugal is a good one for the shop window. He’ll bang em in, clearly a smart lad

For me, Gyokeres has seriously benefited from a well drilled team in Coventry who drop in deep and hit the ball early where he will get almost all the real chances for the team. He looks a real average player, poor technique, dribbling, not that fast but somehow consistently gets goals, which is ultimately the most important trick!

He’s class, a forward who can do everything well. Over 20 goals and into double figures for assists is some going in a season. Surprised he’s not been picked up by a prem team but I think he will be there in a few seasons.
Glad he’s left Coventry though as it unquestionably makes them weaker and I don’t think Simms is near his quality atm.

He’s nothing like the striker that you’ve described there, he’s not just a penalty box striker, he does a bit of everything.

I've only seen him six times i admit. I don't think he's anything more than a decent championship striker. As to the money that's being splashed around, football is immoral and wrong. In this country we have millions of people living in abject poverty and that's increased massively under conservative government. There's an obvious conclusion to be made when we see such value attributed to a person who is good at playing a game, and zero value given to all the children in this country living in abject poverty. I know some people have said 'eh? Etc to the original post, but how long can football fans keep burying their heads in the sand? The game is wrong, it's morally wrong, and really we all should turn our backs on it.

Going have to disagree with this one Glasgow 🙁 I think he is a fantastic player. Boro away in the PO he was everything you would want from a striker and did so much of the dirty work but remained a focal point for attack as a lone striker

Yes I'll admit gyokeres is good but the money being chucked around in football is disgusting in the context of the problems we have in the world, which could be sorted out by spreading resources to everyone
