How ridiculous is the fee being bandied around for Peterborough's Aaron McLean? Last season he scored 33 goals in League Two (hardly the best league in the world) and Barry Fry wants £3 million PLUS £2 million if he helps Wolves up.
To put it into a bit of perspective, the season before we signed Greenacre, he scored 28 goals in the equivalent of League Two for Mansfield. Would you say he was worth a potential £5 million?
What a crazy football world we live in!

This is Barry Fry we're talking about though so I imagine he's just trying to talk the price up as for Greenacre I'd say his fee was spot on but as it turned out even that was too much ;D

Why? He is an international player that an English Premier League team were after and 3 Brazilian Premier League teams were after-6 figures seems reasonable to me.

It doesn't even look like we will be paying a six figure sum upfront. If he is as good as is being made out then it will be money well spent.
We still don't know how much we got Demar for but on the other hand we got Cressy on a free so I suppose those two signings evened each other out

Didn't we have to pay £200k to Leeds for him when we were promoted? Ahh, yes you are right- forgot that. So, we got him on a free with a promotion clause. 200K seems good business to me!!!

Leeds earn Cresswell windfallStoke's promotion to the Premier League has seen Leeds pocket £200,000. The Whites included a clause in outgoing striker Richard Cresswell's deal that they would be entitled to the cash should the front man help the Potters into the top flight. Cresswell moved to the Britannia Stadium last summer, and bagged 11 goals in City's successful 2007/08 campaign. Tony Pulis' side clinched their place among English football's elite with a 0-0 draw against Leicester on a thrilling final day in the Championship. With Leeds hoping that they will be taking their place in the second tier next season, club chairman Ken Bates was delighted to have received a welcome financial boost. "I'm pleased for Stoke and I wish them well," he told Yorkshire Radio. "When they took Richard Cresswell we were on a bonus if they got promotion, so we're delighted." www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11701_3530666,00.html

I hope we only offer Ken 10p in the pound or offer to settle up with the St James Ambulance etc etc on their behalf as I really begrudge money going to that self-abuser

We were seriously screwed by Mansfield getting Greenacre for free- to think Forest wanted him as well ??? We should have sued the stags for sending us that useless cardboard cut-out
Have to remember Barry Fry is as mad as a retarded chihuahua so take it with a pinch of salt.
