If you mean take away the need for that stuff in a commercial sense then yes, you're correct. We need the stuff but without spending our days re-learning and foraging it's not really feasible for us to acquire it, even if it was as readily available as it was when we evolved into what we are. Would it be desirable if the need for all kind of drugs in a population disappeared completely through the intervention in the brains of a population with stem cell therapy? And do you believe everyone is addicted to food? And is every drug user addicted to drugs? I was just thinking ... what if they happened to delete the need for food. Scary business. But I was listening to some local politicians here. I don't know enough about the process and the inherent safety issues to comment on the stem cell procedures knowledgeably. If I had a problem with drugs I thought needed resolving I'd be inclined to try the psychedelic route as things stand. Some drugs are actually beneficial and humankind has used psychedelic extensively throughout history. Cannabis contains about 150 cannibinoids (that have been discovered so far) a number of which have now been acknowledged as being beneficial health wise. Some of them are very close in chemical structure to the endocannibinoids we produce ourselves - Anandamide and 2AG (and probably others), and are able to interact with the same receptors as those endocannabinoids, this is what makes Cannabis so valuable as a health resource. The Greeks used to get completely twatted at a place 16km from Athens every year for 2 or 3 weeks in September/October, the Eulysian Mysteries went on for around 2,000 years. greekreporter.com/2023/06/24/psychedelics-ancient-greece-eleusinian-mysteries/It's the 'forcing' thing you mention that concerns me most, are they going make fat people have the treatment? People who drink alcohol? Caffeine? Where are they planning to draw the line?

People who drink alcohol? Caffeine? Where are they planning to draw the line? So you would instead of quitting one drug add another? This is probably because you would imagine benefits with some drugs and are afraid of losing those benefits if the need goes away in such a hypothetical situation. Understandable. Your info about cannabis and psychadelics is very much different from what swedish politicians who make the decisions and some people within the stem cell industry believe in. I have read a lot about it and it's really an industry already, the fastest growing in medicine. My guess/estimation: the majority believe drugs only have disadvantages. 90% of the rest believe the advantages have to call for a microscope to be seen. I can agree with you that cannabis could have some healthy advantages, but it's considered a very radical thought here. Where are they going to draw the line? That's interesting and the views are as many as the dots on that line. I can mostly speak for Sweden and what they've expressed but drugs, alcohol, fat are definitely in the picture - all of them. Caffeine is different. Maybe because most of them drink coffee ...? 🫢 On the contrary, they often say to not drink coffee at all is very risky healthwise. I don't and I don't remember what shit I was supposed to get. The forcing factor. First of all, it's not hard to imagine a few dictatorship countries taking the first steps, and then really by force. It's enough to remember how it looked during the Covid-19 outburst and peaks w vaccination and lockdown. I saw for instance video clips from Nigeria that freaked me out! Primarily it's to reduce societal costs and equally to show the rest of the world how great they are to solve problems. The world is sometimes like a big sand box to me. But since I know how some people are reasoning here, I wouldn't be surprised if Sweden were first to follow in Europe. It could even be a EU decision in a decade? But I wouldn't imagine it being forced upon. Not first. Not directly, but perhaps indirectly by not giving any social benefits or something, not getting certain jobs perhaps. Like how it was with Covid-19. Weren't you vaccinated, then ... it could be difficulties. Or maybe you have to pay a fee as a punishment. But I would imagine some democratic countries to stay out of it longer, and only be concerned about the real troublesome heavy drug addicts of all kind.

The main 'troublesome heavy drug addicts' are the ones using alcohol, users of other drugs are usually only 'troublesome' because of the illegality of their drug of choice, remove the illegality and the vast majority would be no bother at all. Quite why your government more than others is determined to protect the drug cartels and in the process prevent climate change action happening will forever be a mystery to me.

Quite why your government more than others is determined to protect the drug cartels and in the process prevent climate change action happening will forever be a mystery to me. It's simple. Our government is a minority government and practically ruled by a fourth support party (the biggest of the 4) and what The Green Party call The Brown Party. Both proposals are primarily theirs. Their view: No drug have any advantages. We have no climate change to bother about. It's our 2nd largest/3rd largest party (depending on what opinion poll, it varies).

Well your scientists and those researching drugs in the rest of the world would seem to be at odds with one another. Professor Raphael Mechoulam, who studied Cannabis and the endocannibinoid system for about 60 years said when he was alive that scientists he was working with in California are convinced that Cannabis will eventually provide us with the means to cure ALL diseases, including addictions. Wild eh? 😄

Do they give any reasoning for their policy? Are they basing it on scientific evidence or do you have a Daily Mail equivalent that sensationalises every drug related event?

Are they basing it on scientific evidence or do you have a Daily Mail equivalent that sensationalises every drug related event? They say drugs aren't swedish; they almost always come from somewhere else, it's a cultural problem. They say they base their politics on science and more often on common sense. They study the national budget and hospital queues. I don't know if they read any Daily Mail equivalent and what paper that would be.

I don't know if they read any Daily Mail equivalent and what paper that would be. Do they refer to any specific studies? The study that cannabis was rescheduled on the strength of here in the UK was framed in the press as something entirely different than something that affected 0.06% of the population at the very most and even that has been proven to be highly questionable. I don't suppose they'd even consider accepting the fact that drug prohibition is also helping accelerate climate change 😕

No they don't, ely, they see the climate change as something natural and why God created other planets as well. It sounds extreme, I know, but some of them actually do. ______________________________________________ But now back to track and what this thread is all about, regenerative medicine. nyheter.ki.se/framsteg-i-produktion-av-nathinneceller-for-behandling-av-blindhetThis article is from 2020 and very promising. It's about macula degeneration in the retina of the eye leading to blindness and the future treatments for it by production of retina cells. It's from Karolinska Institutet (Karolin Institute") and in swedish, but translate it easily. I often get a question on the screen, saying "translate?"

Do anyone on here have some personal experience from stem cell therapy of any kind, perhaps had it yourself or a family member, mate, neighbour or work colleague who've told you about it?
I have no experience myself yet. Just a big interest. I'm sure I will voluntarily seek for it in the future, especially if it's going to be available for people with a normal purse.

Keep posting musik, I'm interested in all the things you've found. My old housemate worked on 3D printing muscles at Oxford Uni. I asked if he could stop me from being a feeble pussy and he said not yet

Note, there is a big way to go between trigger differentiation into an astrocyte/neuronal/microglial cell lineage and growing complex brain structures. Big advances have been made in brain organoids though and there is ever developing technology that is coming in to help provide support matrices so that more complex structures can be studied. Single cell RNA sequencing has taken science into a whole new realm of complexity in the last couple of years and to be honest, I don’t see the next step from there (which is quite exciting). I feel progress in these fields are gaining a lot of traction.
