I'm not a big fan but I'd go see anyone live and a lad I went school with had a spare for Elton at Wembley Arena at Xmas 1985 and offered it me for free. Not really my cuppa but clearly knew quite a few songs . Encore arrives and it was the last night of about 5 at the venue and he says oh I'll bring some friends on, so out come Rod Stewart, George Michael, several of Def Leppard, a couple of Spandau Ballet, one of Dire Straits (not Knopfler), Nik Kershaw and I'm sure Gary Glitter was there too. He did Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting with them, mad end to the show. Seen very few pics or references to this show so only have the recall due to my anorak teenager gig diary which is a bloody treasure trove of minutiae trivia

Compared to some of the dross on show he's done brilliantly. Steam Machine 1973. People can take the pee all they want but his songs are timeless and he's done brilliantly tonight in my humble opinion.

Other than Flowers he's trying to promote younger rather than just get his celeb mates on for some back slapping

I do like it on a Sunday night when the headliner is a legend but too good for the legend slot. Even the kids watch
Itās been a great show. Elton was very good.
