I've been selling like an absolute beast this year on eBay. Made £600 in January alone and pretty much throwing anything worth selling on eBay since.
I've grown a bit tired of my local post office (Alsager). The opening hours are 9 (usually 9:05 or 9:10) to 5:30 which is naff if you work. The staff constantly try to upsell me postal services I don't need and tend to play really dumb when I ask questions like which services have a reference number, which they seem to intentionally confuse with a tracking number that are significantly more expensive. Additionally, I can't stand the queuing system but we'll gloss over that... That's a "customers being dicks" issue.
I tried eBays own subsidized option the other day. It's either Evri Packlink, UPS, DPD or Yodel. I took the cheapest option Evri at £2.75, a pound cheaper than Royal Mail and with proper tracking right to the door. Dropped it at my local Evri dropoff point which opens at 6am. Delivered on time with limited fuss.
For an extra pound, they'll pick up from your door...
I think my days of using RM are over. Anyone else in the same boat?

I used the local post office the other day for my ps4 and was surprised how cheap they were. No complaint yet from the buyer so hopefully he got it in one piece. Ebay’s such a great thing however their charges are high.

Though I buy far more than I sell. I went to GAME to sell it initially and they messed me about because I didn’t have a certain lead and they wouldn’t have even given me as much as I made on auction. It’s amazing how one persons trash is another persons treasure. I sold a mint Hearts 89 shirt (mint) my parents had bought on holiday back in the day for 189 pounds.

I sold a Panasonic VHS and DVD player.... Not a DVD recorder that can transfer tapes, I kept that one. So just a player.... 70 quid. Fucking mental imo. I've sold loads though. Car parts, clothes, DVDs, CDs, surround speakers, PC parts, all kinds of stuff. Always sent with Royal Mail. Tbh, I am running out of good stuff to sell now. Most left on eBay is the shit that's been listed for months. What I will say is, the sooner it's listed, the sooner it'll sell. I've procrastinated listing this stuff for years. It's been therapeutic getting rid of some of my accumulated junk. I'm not a big fan of throwing away good functioning items. Total shit... Fine, yeah bin it. But so many good items end up in the bin and it's literally fucking the planet as we speak.

Useless cunts.
My car is sat awaiting both front brakes to be rebuilt, because it’s an import I either have to get the parts from Japan or hope a stockists in the UK holds what I need, turns out a UK supplier had one set left of the bits I need, so we paid for next day delivery because the job needs doing urgently as the cars off to Goodwood next month.
That was three weeks ago.
Contacted them, the absolutely howling arseholes have lost the parcel, and now it’s a minimum 3 week turnaround before the UK supplier I bought from has fresh stock, guess how long it is before I take the car away? You guessed it, 3 fucking weeks.
Spend half the year striking and the dull wankers can’t even drop a single solitary box off, bollocks to the lot of them.
They damaged a set of lights I sold as well which I sent special delivery in the original package they came in and refused to refund me the £110 I’d now lost because I’d “not packaged them correctly”, they were protected more than Zelenskyy is currently.
Fuck Royal Mail.

In my experience Yodel are a bit better. I guess it comes down to luck of the draw but what I will say is that Royal “fecking” Mail and Evri (who used to be Hermes I think) are absolutely shite with diabolical customer service if you dare to question an error. Hermes were the worst for me, then they changed the name and are at least as bad. Steer clear and pay a little more for quality service

It's worth saying that Royal Mail and the Post Office are separate companies. I have a good relationship with my local Post Office, and he's as pissed off with Royal Mail as anyone else.

This is absolutely true in fairness but ultimately, I am paying for a royal mail service. It just happens to be the post office, where I purchase it... And they are pissing me off. I've had relatively good luck with Royal Mail services. I've had one expensive item disappear and they returned it. I had another item go missing and they compensated me. THAT SAID, they aren't cheap. You don't get a lot for your money. If the post office workers didn't play dumb as to which provide a reference number when you're on the spot, it would at least make it easier but there you go.

I don't offer postage either because i can't be bothered with the hassle, and half the people that message you are scammers who ask to send to them before they pay. Stopped using ebay at least 10 years back because of the fees. May check it out again.

Just have to avoid errant badgers on the way there and back.

Our village postmaster operates 2 post offices, one here and one in next village about 2 miles away. Ours is supposed to open 9-12 morning and he goes to the other 1-5 in the afternoon. Does he bollox, even though he promulgates opening times on the doors, village Facebook & website and google. He’s also an artist and runs painting classes and allegedly been seen attending art exhibitions when post office should be open. I’ve complained to the post office numerous times and get the same answer……opening times are at the discretion of individual postmasters. I don’t know how much he earns specifically but average postmaster wage in Devon rural post officers is around £25k. I know that’s not massive but both his post offices has a shop attached. I don’t bother and prefer to go to a post office on outskirts of Plymouth about 3 miles away.

For certain things, yes I've got rid of RM, they are too dear and opening times can be awkward. The service around Christmas was very shaky, but has got better since. Although letters still seem to be dumped off on a certain day, rather than being drip-fed. For smaller items their prices have been rationalised due to the fact they were very excessive. Our local Post Office (now the one in Stoke has shut) in Trent Vegas is run by two pleasant Asian ladies and it's a pleasure to go in there so long as a weirdo who keeps buying lottery tickets isn't in. There's a lot of choice, so it depends what I'm sending in the main. They are all much of muchness at the end of the day I've had stuff lost with DHL and DPD and tracking that's a load of rubbish too.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeel.... I was in there recently and a reasonably small queue, with just this chap at that front. Unlike most people who now buy these things online, he was wading through a whole bunch of numbers. The list was mental though, he'd say one and two and then correcting himself over and over again. Wednesday, no Saturday. It was all a little odd to say the least. He'd then start again again and this carried on for at least 10 minutes! In the end the other member of staff who had been processing parcels had to open the other counter as it was taking a huge amount of the first lady's time. I never did find out if he finished or if there's a skeleton in there now holding a massive bunch of lottery tickets.

I use tracked 24 for my packages and factor it in the price of the item. I print at home and just drop it in. If their is a queue I just go in at night and ask if he will put it through when he can as Im not always able to get in during the day. He's fine with that and its job done. Ive not had one item get delivered late and I sell quite a few a week.

Sending stuff just normal 2nd class barely makes them any money, hence the pressure from the post office to try and upsell or at least make you away you won't be covered if Royal mail lose an item.

UPS are crap as well. Should have had a parcel delivered on 25th May got an email saying it was delayed. Went on their tracking app and it said would be delivered by end of day 26th. Nothing arrived then yesterday 27th got another email saying it would now be delivered on 30th May. Snag is we’re out all day so logged on to my UPS account and tried to get it sent to a drop off location but you can’t do that until delivery has been attempted. So tried to change the date of delivery and got same response.

They turned up on January 8th after repeated delays. I even offered to go to the depot and collect and they said I couldn’t due to health and safety reasons🤷🏻♂️. Had to make my apologies to the children I’d bought presents for.
