I suspect my neighbours 14 year old daughter isn't trying to kick her 60 a day woodbine habit so why start vaping in the first place?.

Weird isn’t it. I vape for my sins although I’m down to the lowest nicotine level in an effort to kick the smoking habit, but there is something quite pleasant about some of the attractive fruity flavours which I’m finding hard to give up and I guess that’s what’s attracting the kids. If they were just tobacco flavoured like they were originally there’d be nowhere near as many kids doing it.
Unfortunately my 17 year old daughter has recently taken up the habit. I didn’t question why she did but when I asked how she could afford it she told me her mother buys them for her🤷🏻♂️
I guess a start would be me giving them up and setting an example but with a mother like that what chance has she got.

That's interesting, has vaping just become a fashionable 'habit' now, seen as acceptable and no longer a route to packing in the fags. Having said that I guess if thicktock users started shoving mars bars up their backsides the streets would be a dangerous place.

My nephew never smoked a day in his life and took it up at 15/16 and now can’t stop
The government have done a huge amount of work over the years to make cigarettes look less appealing and hide them away, now we have counters of brightly coloured vapes marketed at kids with flavours that kids want!

There is still not enough long term data on effects of them not too mention like the below article of knock off e cigs the kids get hold of that contain harmful chemicals in the liquid! www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-65614078

Heard some distressing stories from the US though on dodgy liquids. Won’t be long until the bad stuff is widespread over here I wouldn’t have thought

What really was shocking was the haul taken off kids at one particular school through a scheme set up by the headmaster, confiscating them until home time, bloody bags full!. Then when shown the dangers a bunch of the kids just shrug it off. Staggering.

They don’t come with as many warnings, those that have invested in them have tried to create the conversation that they are better than smoking (which they may be, but they are not better than not smoking) and they come in pretty colors etc. They definitely aim to target kids.

I heard something on 5Live about a study that showed in recent years, the nicotine has been developed to become more addictive than the nicotine in cigarettes.

The fact remains that the NHS promotes vaping. Why is that?
I completed a questionnaire for my GP the other day and the question was “Do you Smoke?” “If you vape, please answer no”

Believe it or not, in the state of New York (and other surrounding states) you can no longer buy flavoured vape juice that contains nicotine (other than tobacco flavour)…….. but you can legally buy cannabis and smoke it in public places.

I've had a go at them recently to try and ween myself off the cigs, my throat is x10 worse then when I have a couple of cigs when I have a beer. For as little as I actually smoke I've taken it back up

How long until a study shows how damaging it really is?

How long until a study shows how damaging it really is? How long before a bunch of people start bleating that nobody told them the potential harm they were doing to themselves.

My son vapes in front of his kids which I’m fuming about, he’s thick as shit and according to this utter clown there’s no harm in it, kids are 2 and one week old to me it’s child abuse.

Should be banned and a non flavoured product only available.

I currently teach in Further Education and a huge proportion of students (16+) are vaping. They certainly are not doing it to quit smoking. It is now a trend to follow and something which is seen as fashionable. I think they are marketed in quite a devious way as well. Vapes come in a whole range of different fancy designs and colours whilst there is a never ending list of new flavours to try. As someone else has already mentioned, it feels like they are being marketed at youngsters. It would not surprise me if in the next decade a study comes out that demonstrates that they have long-term health implications.
